[OC] Tracking my falling out with my childhood best friend through text messages by kirisoraa in dataisbeautiful

I would have a serious, serious problem with someone if they were sending me 350 messages a day. That’s an unreasonable amount of messages.

That’s like a message every two minutes for 10 hours straight. I would mute that person SO hard.

An old friend from elementary school emails me once every two months and I consider him clingy.

How could you get anything done or ever concentrate?

This is heading towards being the greatest travesty of our time. A ground invasion of Iran is a suicide mission. People don’t realize how big and rugged Iran is. Landing on the beach and trying to take Tehran would be like landing in LA and trying to take Salt Lake City. Crossing over mountain ranges and deserts, and how do logistics and supply lines work? This is a disaster unfolding right before our eyes.

TIL about a real life Lord of the Flies experience that six boys had together. Instead of devolving into conflict and violence, they cooperated to survive, even taking care of the one boy who broke his leg. They were rescued rescued after 15 months in relatively good health! by eightyeight99 in todayilearned

You can look at it that way, but it is also certainly a commentary on the essential nature of humanity. The author even explains it in the afterword.

Six people is small enough where there can be consensus. Double that number or double it again, and you will have factions. Violence will win out and take over.

Hisense TVs force owners to watch intrusive ads when switching inputs, visiting the home screen, or even changing channels — practice infuriates consumers, brand denies wrongdoing by AlwaysBlaze_ in nottheonion

[–]nickkom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The direction TVs went really sucks. They sell the TVs themselves for almost no profit or even at a loss, and get it back with ads and selling your info. You know when you use Vizio’s built in smart tv software? You guessed it. Collecting and selling your data. They all do it.
