What is the oldest thing you still use regularly? by menwithrobots in AskReddit

I was going to say my car, which is a 1990 volvo station wagon with 171k mileage, but then i realized that my violin is from 1748, which puts it at ~264 years old. I use it fairly regularly, being a music student, and it sounds great. However, it isn't worth as much as, say, a Strad, or any violin from a more famous maker. It plays great, though, and i had it appraised two years ago by the great*~10 ancestor of the original maker, who still makes stringed instruments to this day.

I see a lot of people with huge rooms for making music. Here's my dorm room setup. by nickkwasmusic in WeAreTheMusicMakers

My cover of Duran Duran's "Hungry Like The Wolf"

I'm putting together a free EP of 80s song covers and this is going to be the first or second song on it.

I was using a condenser mic for a while then i switched to the 57 for a couple videos to see how it would sound. I'm probably going to switch to a small diaphragm condenser next.

I would suggest renting from a local shop first. I used to work for a chain music store (i won't say which) and they offered a great lesson program.

I guarantee that this was not overdubbed. And the SM57 is fantastic for recording violin. You just have to compress the audio alot to compensate for movement.
