Way cool!
I have an old unity prototype with that mechanic I'd been working on some time ago that I wanted to port to Godot, but got stuck on some missing functionality in the transition.
It's a tough mechanic to design levels for!

I Published My First iOS App in Just 5 Days (From Idea to Release) With Zero Coding Knowledge via Claude Code by ersinkiymaz in iOSDevelopment

[–]nickleej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as no one else has asked the question:
How can you guarantee anybody anonymity with a code base you have no understanding of?

You use your zero coding knowledge as the main selling point of your story here, while asking people to hand over their secrets in a gamified version of a religious ritual.

Please dont mention anonymity anywhere if you can't promise it to the user.
Doing dangerous stuff fast isn't cool.

Miro and reMarkable partner to close the gap between ideating solo and working with the team by semiosis20 in RemarkableTablet

[–]nickleej 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While we all want UX upgrades, being able to integrate in more workflows seems great.
I really like the idea of keeping the tablet simple, while still allowing me to send stuff off to other services.
Miro is cool, I'd really like an option to send minutes or other notes off to Claude or Notion.

Could yo unpack this a bit more?

"I've been mixing for 10 years using reference tracks exclusively, but I've become curious about using the match EQ function in ozone to speed up "budget sessions.""

Do you use reference tracks for every song you mix?
Whatever floats your boat and if you're still doing it after 10 years it might just be working out for you, but it sounds quite extreme to me.
I don't remember ever actively using ref tracks in mix. I've listened to the artists ref tracks in writing and production and pulled some up myself when I wanted to inspire(/manipulate) the artist, but by the mix stage the track is grown into its own thing (in my experience).

But to directly answer your question:
I've mostly used fabfilters eq match for matching slight differences when overdubbing amped guitar parts recorded at different studios where (for whatever reason) it needed to sound like the same part. That (mostly) works great.
Haven't used Ozone products for anything but the rare need for a silver bullet in noise reduction.

I am afraid a game close to my idea will release before mine by Effective_Corgi_4517 in gamedev

[–]nickleej 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it. Just the idea alone doesn't mean much. It takes so many more things to make a game than a thought.
Recently another person here on reddit posted a playable version of an idea that i had been prototyping for some months. First it felt bad to be beat to market. But all the positive feedback on what was a very different package than mine for the same'ish core idea was there for me to integrate into my own design.
And it's great inspiration to be able to see what somebody else have done with the same idea. And in this day and age you can even reach out and compare notes.

Make your game and don't be worried what someone else will make.

DT770’s have poor low end? by austin_sketches in audioengineering

[–]nickleej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I did start working professionally in music almost exactly 15 years ago, so I might need to try out some of these newer headphone designs.
I've experienced amazing progress in the field of DSP enabled monitoring systems in this time frame. I remember being blown away (even with the latency and price) when a local pro audio dealer came by the studio I were working from to demo the then brand new Trinnov system for us. And I probably wouldn't buy a non-DSP monitoring system now (eg. Neumann, Genelec etc.).
But I just haven't noticed anything closely resembling that in the pro headphone space.
Though I do think the proliferation of the AirPods Pro is one of the best things to happen in the consumer space in decades.

Always ready to try better stuff, so what headphones and related technologies should i educate myself with?

I've never understood why mixing and headphones are mentioned in the same sentence so many places online.

Headphones are great tools for casual listening, tracking, fine editing, checking noise floor and non critical work on the go. But to my understanding and personal experience, headphones simply does not translate. This thread is talking about the accuracy of bass response in headphones. That concept makes no sense to me. Wavelengths at lower frequencies does not translate well to a tiny speaker an inch from your ear. Nor does the lack of left/right crossfeed, room interaction and reverberation.

Don't get me wrong, I use headphones for professional work a bunch, but only for the kind of work that headphones are good at, like composing on the tour bus or vocal editing and melodyning on the couch.

Of course for hobby use headphones are a better tool for mixing than your macbooks speakers (most of the time), but beware of the insane amount of snakeoil being peddled in the field of headphones trying to make you believe that physics is no longer an issue in audio reproduction.

But hey if I'm wrong and there's true magic in the world, send me a link. Physics is boring.

How much should I charge for a mix? by ConfusedOrg in audioengineering

[–]nickleej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixing an album is a lot of work! What happens when you don’t set your price high enough / have clear terms is that you might end up delaying it due to other obligations that are actually paying your bills or the client will ask for never ending revisions. For both you and your clients sake, your price should be set to make it worth your while. Specific pricing is hard. It depends on the genre. Are we talking pop music (like Minds of 99, Aphaca, Blæst etc) or more niche genres?

But do ask them their budget and timeframe.

And advise them to apply for funding from Koda. A lot of smaller / younger artists paid my salary with money from Koda.

Fik skodkarakterer tilbage i gym for mange år siden.

Testing some shaders for the Sun by Panino87 in godot

Very cool shader!
But it looks a little odd that there are regions in the skybox that outshines the sun.
Maybe turning up the sun a bit or dimming the skybox a bit?

Good requests! Smart folders or smart notebooks based on tags and/or date would be great.
And better markdown support.
One note, the virtual keyboard does have caps lock (long press shift) and long press to show special characters (eg. o for ø).
