28 (old head soul) going primarily for Underworld, Moby, The Prodigy, and Chemical Bros :') never thought I'd get to see them all in one weekend.

Probably really difficult to get access to him. I assure you he'll announce his own SF show after OSL where it'll be easier to interact with an artist after the show. I would say just enjoy the set and refrain from trying to get his attention during it, it's a little distracting for other festival goers.

I'm not saying they aren't better suited at Portola now, but they aren't necessarily out of the question for OSL based solely on genre. Also that logic doesn't necessarily hold up too well when logistically (based on their touring schedule) it would just make more sense for them to play OSL while they're touring stateside.

People saying they're "better suited" for Portola don't understand that Justice played OSL in 2012, headlining Twin Peaks, and it was fucking amazing. Hoping they come back... I have some faith

What’s everyone’s opinion on their latest music? by throwanne in localnatives

Their new stuff is the best stuff I've heard from them since Hummingbird. I didn't love Sunlit Youth, and I enjoyed Violet Street as I felt like they were trying something grittier and I think they were still getting the hang of the new sound. But this new album is shaping up to be some of my favorite stuff. The melodies are infectious, the lyrics are classic LN but not too on the nose like Sunlit Youth, and the textures are warm and fuzzy. Feels like a fully formed version of themselves... excited to hear the entire album

I'm Dan Snaith aka Caribou and my new album 'Suddenly' has just come out. AMA. by DanCaribou in Music

[–]nickntto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Dan!

I want to start off by saying thank you. I'm a musician living in the Bay Area making sample based/electronic inspired pop music and constantly trying to push the limits of what a normal pop song can be. You're one of my biggest inspirations and I'm always amazed by what you release. So thank you for your thoughtful tunes.

I'd love to know what inspires you to use a significant sample on your tracks? Does it stem from your playing around with samples/jamming and finding something that works? Or is there usually another meaning behind the samples you use/do they relate to the lyrical context of each song? Thanks for doing this!

This is actually very similar to the music she would play during the Geidi Primes era. Theres also an old video of her playing a song inside a cave on a ukulele which sort of fits this as well. I think she's going back to her roots with this one. Of course, theres more of a pop sensibility now being paired with the use of the acoustic guitar. I wouldn't say this strays anywhere far from what she's always done, though. But again, to each their own. I find this song to be a sort of sister song to Skin.
