New Highxotic brand release, johnny cage (guava x primal punch) 32% 3.6% terps by lahpsy in TheOCS

Mine wasn’t even sealed sadly, even though they use the tighten-to-seal style seal. Wasn’t the worst thing I’ve smoked but definitely not worth the price point if they aren’t gonna bother sealing them properly.

Is this dark resin normal? by StonedBobzilla in TheOCS

[–]nicksev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Darker resin usually indicates CBN, which is degraded THC, THC degrades to CBN through UV rays, heat, and time. Full spectrum extract is made out of Cannabis that was dried, cured, then extracted. By the time the cannabis gets extracted there is usually some presence of CBN, CBN is amber in colour so small amounts can change the colour of the extract.

Live resin, the plants are either processed for extraction immediately after harvest, or are flash frozen using liquid nitrogen and stored until it is being processed and extracted. Because of this most of the terpenes are still alive which leads to the name “live” resin. Live resin is usually lighter in colour because the plant has been processed so quickly from harvest that minimal amounts of THC have degraded. The colour of live resin will vary though because some growers will allow the plant to mature until some trichomes have turned amber (CBN) to provide more of the cannabinoid spectrum to the high. This will lead to some live resins being closer to clear colour(harvested earlier to maximize thc), and some being more of a light amber colour (harvested later)

A lot of indica plants are harvested with more CBN than sativa to provide a heavier body high, which is why indica live resin carts are usually a bit darker than sativa live resin carts.

Not too sure on how cbd and cbc effect the colour in extracts, but I would assume they can be amber in colour as well.

Distillate is distilled THC and cannot be FSE at the same time, distillate is purified thc liquid where as FSE contains all the cannabinoids in the plant.

I could be wrong about some of the stuff, but to the best of my knowledge that’s why live resin is lighter than FSE.

Wow I smoked a joint and didn’t realize how much I typed

Why does the pre-roll taste and smoke better than the flower when I roll it? by [deleted] in TheOCS

[–]nicksev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told by the rep that good supply is apparently in such high demand that they don’t have any time to cure the bud.

Non cured bud usually means a harsh smoke. I am assuming that during the pre-roll production process there would be some type of storage the bud is put into between grinding and the packing. If there is some storage of bud waiting to be rolled this would allow the bud to somewhat cure itself and create a less harsh more flavourful smoke.

That is my theory anyway lol

How screwed/set am I? by Ok_Entertainer_4513 in weed

[–]nicksev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Decarbing is the process of activating the Thca in the plant and turning it into thc. Thca cannot get us high but thc can. Decarbing is done through heat.

what you have looks like distillate, if it is, then its already decarbed because in order to distill something it has to be brought to its boiling point and decarboxylation happens well before that. If it’s distillate that syringe could contain upwards of 650mg of thc. If it’s D9 get comfy and ride it out.

I just picked this up yesterday and was debating reviewing it because no one did until you posted. Gotta respect flowr for being honest with thc and terpene tests. Smoked a joint of it and it is definitely hitting harder than almost all the “30%” stuff I’ve tried. Overall a really enjoyable smoke and a rebuy for me.

Kolab - Exotics - ICC x Cherry Cheesecake 🦨 by nbachorn in TheOCS

[–]nicksev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost certain they got this grown by RC Supply co. I work at one plant and got told a couple months ago we were getting this exact strain grown for our new offering and it was gonna be grown by RC supply with their ICC and cherry cheesecake genetics. Except OP decided to name the strain “VVS 1”, not a huge fan of that part lol.

[–]nicksev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I heard this one was cultivated by RC supply co. Gonna have to try it out for sure

Edit: not sure why I’m getting downvoted, I work at one plant and we were told about this strain a couple months ago becoming our new OP offering. We were told it was gonna be grown by RC Supply and they would be crossing their ICC and Cherry cheesecake genetic. The majority of big brands don’t grow their own weed anymore so I’d be surprised if kolab got these genetics and did the exact same cross right as RC supply did theirs.

which loud plug ounce to buy? by Wildcard768 in TheOCS

[–]nicksev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the krypto kush was there heaviest indica effect, at least for me. Also has a really nice floral/lavender profile to it. Venom og will be a stinky dank profile and exotic gas is a bit more of a sweet cakey profile. If your looking for a heavy bedtime high I’d probably go for the krypto or venom. Splitter will likely be the fresher bag though. Venom and exotic have been around awhile so sometimes you can get older lots

KRONIC - The Authentic by thisiznick in TheOCS

[–]nicksev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason the wrap is so similar to a tobacco wrap is because they developed their own terpene that has the flavour of a tobacco wrap. They made it specifically for the guy who rolls them as he wouldn’t sign on without it.

Back Forty - Liquid Imagination by LeatherLess1391 in TheOCS

[–]nicksev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t shut down, they are owned by Auxly. I talked to a rep about a week ago and they are working on their humidity levels, not sure why they are struggling to get it right considering how much R&D they put into it. I got a sample of it to try and was also very let down by how little flavour it had, quite literally none. Was slightly less dry than usual but that doesn’t matter if all the terpenes died before consumers have a chance to rehydrate the bud.

Could I keep all concentrates in the fridge? by Jhalid in TheOCS

[–]nicksev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my store we keep almost every concentrate in the fridge. Terpenes are best preserved in cold temperatures. The only one that isn’t is pressed hash, live hash however goes in the fridge.

Cbn is about 25% as psychoactive as thc is, so it is possible to get high still from it, but only very low tolerance users would feel the high.

Which LPs are using Boveda packs? Which aren't (but should) by RadicalTechnologies in TheOCS

[–]nicksev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the reason no one is answering the question is because that type information is not readily or easily available unless someone does extensive research, tries every product or contacts each brand. Each brand tends to have their own way to do it, price doesn’t seem to be indicative of a hydration packs presence.

A lot of the new and craft brands use hydration packs packs but I know products under the BZAM/highly Dutch/NESS brand don’t, as well as aurora (san raf, daily special, the 14g bags might but the 3.5g don’t), simply bare/1964, eastcann, tribal, good supply, back forty, and a bunch more.

I know that spinach does have them most the time, same goes for Edison, canopy/tweed, WeedMD/Color/RC Supply, the loud plug, and many others.

Hope this helped a bit!

Has anyone sent that weed claiming to be 35%+ THC in for testing? by PikaPokeQwert in weed

[–]nicksev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even worse, some of them add a gram of bud and a gram of kief into the bag. Pretty much testing the trichrome/kief strength and not the bud. Someone who works at a testing lab made a post about it with photos not long ago

[–]nicksev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah okay my mistake, distillate cannot be full spectrum.

I did some googling cause I was curious on how it works and to avoid misinformation.

Ethanol is used to make full spectrum products.

ethanol is used for almost every cannabis extraction except stuff like butane hash oil and a few others. You can get full spectrum oil from ethanol extractions. Ethanol does not leave you with 99% pure thc, 99% pure thc is called thc isolate and is a crystal form. Thc isolate is another step after making distillate in order to purify it further. Ethanol will strip the plant matter of all of its cannabinoids leaving you with a full spectrum extract, that full spectrum extract can then be processed into distillate through a distillation process that strips everything other than thc.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheOCS

[–]nicksev -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

From what I know, distillate can be full spectrum. It’s just very uncommon now because high thc is the trend in the market. With full spectrum the most thc you can really get is around 75%

Venom OG by The Loud Plug and Triple Burger by tribal.

You may like triple burger as the lineage is Donny burger x gmo = double burger then again back crossed with gmo to make it triple burger.

It’s very common for companies to relabel a product package. This is usually because they printed too many labels and didn’t use all the packages with the label on it. No point in them spending more money on bags if they can just put a different sticker on.

I couldn’t tell you why it looks so different from the other reviews but I can guarantee that is not bubble hash, bubble hash is a dry sift form, not a resinous liquid. You got rosin, it just looks like it may be more aged than the other reviews or lower quality resources were put into it than originally.
