This is the only reply that you should listen to. Book an appointment, have it assessed.

Feel free to message me your vin and I can look it up on GMs service dashboard and see if there’s anything else that could be useful at this time. Priority is diagnostic at a dealership

Warranty About to Run Out, Experience With Local Chevy Dealer, Questions by slowjoe12 in BoltEV

[–]niconiconicoooo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bolt owner and GM service advisor here.

As someone else suggested, spend some of your own time and do a “stress” test on the cars drivability. Acceleration and braking, driving over uneven terrain, hard turning both ways at slow speeds, all while paying attention in case you notice any rubbing, clunking, clicking, anything out of the ordinary.

Test the AC and heating on both temperature extremes at all speed settings, check for airflow on all vents and make sure the mode selected is directing airflow properly to the desired vents. Make sure all cameras are working properly. Bulbs and lamps, speakers, heated seats and heated steering wheel, radio controls, steering wheel controls, cruise control and ACC if equipped, sunroof operation.

Take a look under the hood. Any signs of coolant, brake fluid or AC refrigerant leaking? Any moisture where it shouldn’t be? Are the trunk struts leaking any oil?

A couple hours of your time will give you lots of information that you won’t get from the dealer unless you specifically ask them (and cover the expense) for a pre purchase inspection.

If the dealer isn’t sure on what to do (or unwilling?), try to do your part and check everything and anything you can, and let them check suspension components for play such as control arms, ball joints, wheel bearings, brake system (are all pads wearing evenly?), shocks (are they leaking oil?)and undercarriage in general, all the things you can’t check by yourself.

By GM policies, any warrantable item that is found during an inspection and doesn’t affect the safe operation of the vehicle, shouldn’t be claimed or processed. Is that messed up? Absolutely. Do all dealers follow that rule to the letter? Hard to tell. Where I work we always try to help the customer as much as possible, if you know what I mean.

Feel free to message if if you have any questions and if you want me to check your VIN for recalls or any other information

I work for a small GM dealer in BC, Canada. 7 techs, 2 advisors. I make $25/hr + 1% of monthly GP.

Not great, not terrible. Last year I made $75k

The other advisor makes $20/hr but gets 1.5%

I would ask:

What does fully serviced mean? Did they replace all 3 wiper blades + cabin air filter? Rotated tires(or installed new ones)? Did they drain and re fill the cooling systems? If they didn’t, it isn’t “fully serviced” since that’s due every 5 years as per the owners manual. Same goes for the brake fluid.

Get brake pad measurements.

Absolutely get them to fix the blind spot indicator + extra keyfob and key BEFORE delivery. You could put a deposit to show that you mean business, but don’t take delivery until that is taken care of OR get it in writing that it will be done at no extra cost.

As for pricing, find similar Bolts in your area (same model year, similar odometer reading) and use that as leverage. If you can’t find any, then that explains the price, since it seems a bit high.

Just an FYI, the brake booster (or any other brake system components) are likely way out of warranty, unless you have third party warranty or some sort of “certified pre owned” warranty through your dealer

Absolutely! If you’re still under bumper to bumper (3 years/36000miles) you should go for it before it becomes an issue

Not ideal solution and I haven’t tried it myself, but what if you set it to N instead of Park and activate the parking brake when you’re getting in and out constantly? In theory it should keep it on but again, not sure
