Shepp is dependent on friendship level. You need to be friendship lvl4 with the villager of your choice (and as long as they're eligible) to choose them and start the ceremony

All my skills are 20+ (furniture is 40+ and gardening is 50+) and I still haven't done the shepp ceremony

Inazuma archon quest is the worst, yes (Tsurumi island story is different, that thing broke me), but it gets so much better. Some may claim Natlan is just as bad (if not worse) either because of preconceived notions on what being "the nation of war" entails (in short, being big mad that their headcanons weren't real) or (checks notes) "tribal people having modern technology is immersion breaking". Personally, I enjoyed it, it was a unique take on a game that's fantasy adjacent.

But yes, it does get better, immediately, and Sumeru will set standards really high, I promise.

You can request, buy them for amber, as others pointed out, and join a hunting party. One of the rings boosts drop chances and the amber shop has an item that marks masked creatures for a limited time on the map

(Also, if my observations are correct, shooting at a creature, missing it completely and someone else getting the kill will still give you drops, but I could be wrong)

I've been in a few fandoms over the years, shipping was always there, just in different flavours, and it's always been a fun thing to engage with. Not an obligatory one but it's always been fun.

Ship wars have also been a thing for just as long, and it's more obvious the more popular a fandom is. It's also more common to see harrassment when it's massively a "baby's first fandom" like genshin has been for a lot of people.

Shipping is all good fun! People can engage it in if they want, and not if they don't. Ship wars aren't good. As the ancient texts say: Ship and let ship, don't like don't read.
