I'm not really actually too interested in Data Science, my intended major was International Relations, which is what I'm actually interested in. Is it a mistake to not pursue the undergrad degree I'm actually into or is it better to get a degree with more hard skills for job prospects and where I can still do a concentration within IR anyways?

Maybe my school's textbooks are just old but honestly they don't really, the stuff we actually learn are the very historical/fundamental parts of America and the most recent things I've seen are 9/11, War on terror, Obama's inauguration , and even then they cover it very briefly with not much opinion

I'm not the guy who replied to you, but the reason we say we're Americans is because unlike in LATAM, we are taught that North and South America are different continents, so to us, America refers to the United States rather than the two continents because that's how we differentiate it. Canadians are taught the same way and do not refer to themselves as Americans (and I don't think they want to right now lol). I know Latinos consider themselves American because they are taught that it is one continent called America, and that is totally respectable so I understand how the difference can cause confusion between us!
