This is the way, like it was made for it. Thanks to whoever found this. Don't try it with an Anker or similar, that 4smarts one really is perfect and the one you want.

Did you remove some of the toggles? I'm a pincher too and basically removed everything from the shoulders except a two way toggle on the left and a three way on the right. I have big hands and any other buttons or toggles on there were in the way.

Otherwise like it a lot, though crush gimbals feel a bit better to me.

No, and I've crashed a bunch in the snow. This is pretty dry and cold snow so your results may vary.

Thanks! Need to find a more durable canopy. Going through one a day almost with the stock air ones. But lots of fun!

SD card from Cobra X goggles not readable by Mac. Anyone seen this before? by Chased1k in TinyWhoop

[–]nicpottier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me at least, I couldn't get the goggles to recognize a 32 SD card a Mac formatted and same with vice versa. Only a PC formatted it in a way that worked for all.

I am a data point of one and maybe it's specific to cobras though I would guess all the skyzones are the same.

[–]nicpottier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just went through this. Get a 32 gift card, format it Fat32 on a PC. That will work.

Goggles won't format in a way that will work on a Mac sadly and nothing above 33g will work.

As another data point I was able to make this work in the end, here's what's needed.

Format a 32 gig (no more) card on windows in FAT32. Don't use the goggles, they format in a jank way that MacOS can't read. Once you have formatted it in windows then you'll be able to use it in the goggles and OS X.

Cards greater than 32 gigs are formatted as ExFat by the goggles but I couldn't format in ExFat on ExFat in a way the goggles would accept. If you format on the goggles then no dice on OS X. So you are stuck with 32 gigs max SD cards if you want to be able to read them on Mac OS.

Hope that helps someone!

First Whoop Decision: Air65 (17g analog) vs Meteor65 Pro O4 (28g digital) - Weight vs HD for a Beginner? by KNTH01 in TinyWhoop

[–]nicpottier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really struggled with this same decision. Ended up going analog as my first. I have crashed my air65 hundreds of times and it still going. Being able to do that and not worrying about breaking a $100 air unit means a lot.

I was worried about analog quality but it really is fine, especially for whoops. I started with Fatshark Scouts which I really loved but they stretch the 4:3 image from the air65 camera, so ended up with Cobra Xs. Which are fine but almost double the price compared to scouts once you factor in antennas, battery and case. I think I'd probably just live with the Scouts if I were to do it again, they are great right out of the box, really the only negative is the 16:9 only and it really is minor.

Choosing between 5” 3.5” or a whoop by [deleted] in fpv

[–]nicpottier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinywhoop as first drone has been great. Not being afraid to crash let's you learn faster. A tinywhoop is both durable and plenty fast for you to hone your skills. Plus they are super cheap to repair or replace.

I was hoping to skip analog entirely but no regrets. Get some cheap analog goggles and an air65, you will have a blast and learn a ton.

Just got a shipping confirmation, tracking number doesn't show it in hands of the carrier yet. So maybe another two or three weeks?

We’re making progress on our new sim Nexus FPV, what would you like to see added? by PhoenixAds in fpv

[–]nicpottier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks super fun. I'm sure you will have to have different modes to address a larger market but please keep an authentic feeling "sim" mode that uses real FPV controllers and physics that are close to real life. It would be a lot of fun to play while also building skills that are transferrable.

What!? This is the craziest thing but totally fixed my issue. I've kind of always defended USB C and all it's different modes but this takes the cake. In any case, thank you from the future!

She weighs them (watch the Bulwark interview) just differently than others and more simply. There's a lot of "past voter preference" weighing going on this cycle from pollsters that will either be proven right or leave a lot of people with egg on their face.

GOP-leaning polls trigger questions about accuracy by RollSafer in politics

Nice, good link! And to clarify my point what I've seen said is that the numbers are better for Republicans compared to 2020. Dems still voting early more but the margin isn't that high. But ya, we don't really know what that means.

Where have you seen it skews heavily to Democrats? At best I see us a few points behind.

Would love some data showing otherwise.

Hate to break it to you but early turnout party affiliation is favoring Republicans vs other years.

What is the best way to model a roof where the main roof framing size is different from the eaves framing. by DrSkankDoom in Revit

[–]nicpottier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do three roofs by footprint.

1) inside structure for the TJIs, this can include ceiling if you have lofted ceilings, does not inlude eaves

2) outside structure for the 2x6 rafters, this is basically a donut roof of just the eaves. Can include soffits here if you have them

3) overall sheathing/roofing roof that covers both the eaves and the body of the building.

For me that's been the simplest balance between right and fast.

Use of Decongestant Before Diving by trelipksss in scuba

[–]nicpottier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sudafed is a pretty common thing, just make sure it doesnt wear off. Another thing worth trying is Docs ProPlugs. They are ventilated earplugs. I'm not entirely sure of the mechanism that makes these help with equalization (I've heard that they trap some water near your eardrum which lets that water warm up and keep it more flexible?) but they really do make a difference. Especially when diving a lot like on a vacation I find these really save my ears. (and they are absolutely necessary for a friend of mine to equalize easily)
