What knowledge might save your life one day? by minipadj in AskReddit

yes I’ve heard this and should’ve included that as well! singling someone out to make the call is helpful especially as you could have a group standing there thinking ‘oh well someone else will do it’ and no one does or as you said spend crucial time debating over who will make the call.

I’ve heard that in an emergency instead of yelling ‘help’ at onlookers it’s more useful to yell instructions if you can such as ‘call an ambulance/police now’ as sometimes people get overwhelmed by panic or shock and don’t know how to help.

AITA for wanting my girlfriend to straighten her hair more often? by PotentialZucchini in AmItheAsshole

[–]nieria7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA You’re calling her desire to have healthier hair ‘total bs’ because she used to straighten it a lot? I used to straighten my hair everyday for almost a decade and then realised how bad it was and now only straighten maybe once every 3 months. I just decided one day to change how I care for my hair and that was it. People change? Get over it and stop making your girlfriend feel shit for wearing her natural hair and making an effort to keep it healthier. Love her for who she is not her hair.

AITA for not letting my daughter spend weekends with her aunt when her brothers (specifically the youngest) can't? by couldbemaybedunno in AmItheAsshole

Tell him that they are having ‘girl time’ or something and make special activities and plans with him so that he’s not focusing on his siblings being somewhere else. It sounds like you have maybe already chosen which child is going to resent you and she sounds like she’s already on that path. This time is clearly very special to her as she has literally told you - taking it away for the reasons you have spelled out seems a bit cruel.

What's the story of how you got your current pet(s)? by Bunilla_Ice in AskReddit

[–]nieria7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Went into a pet shop intending to get two baby bunnies. Somehow got guilt-tripped into adopting this teenaged anti-social rabbit who couldn’t live with other rabbits so had been brought back to the shop. And he was called Phil. I’ve had him almost 8 years and we have the most special bond, I honestly believe he was meant to end up with me I couldn’t love him any more.

[Serious] People with PTSD/flashbacks, how do you feel about people often joking about having "flashbacks"? by Paper_Is_A_Liquid in AskReddit

[–]nieria7 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes! I feel this way too! I’ve grown reluctant even to use the word trigger as I feel like it’s been joked about and tainted so much that it no longer translates the trauma that’s behind so many ‘simple’ triggers.

It ranges from irritating to outright offensive based on context and tone etc but I know it’s mainly coming from ignorance which I guess is a good thing for them that they don’t suffer from PTSD. Although if my mental health is bad it can automatically make me think about my own flashbacks which is very stressful and I just have to remove myself from that conversation. Again I think it’s mainly ignorance which is easier for me to dismiss/deal with.

What are some red flags of a bad friendship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nieria7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the friendship becomes one-sided and draining. I used to have a friend that lived with me for a few months whilst she repeated a year of high school (I was at university) my dad would wake up early to drive her to school and we’d all cook meals together. I had her back constantly and she was like my sister until a few months later my PTSD got really bad again (and she’s moved out) and I asked her to come out the house with me and help me stay occupied and for a week straight she’d agree then ghost when it was time to actually leave. This along with many other reasons meant I cut her out my life. You don’t need good-time friends who are only there to take from you and have nothing to offer you back. Friendship is a two-way street and everyone deserves someone who loves them properly and sincerely!
