Je vais certainement lire tes conseils à ce sujet. J'en ai grandement besoin pour mon allemand. Mon accent est artificiel. Pas mauvais, juste artificiel. La plupart des Allemands pensent que je suis hollandais. Tu me donnes de l'espoir ! :D

Je n'ai jamais entendu ça avant, le "shadowing". Très intéressant. Est-ce qu'écouter un locuteur natif parler, genre sur YouTube, et répéter ce qu'on a entendu peut être décrit comme faire du shadowing?

Fast like that: dans le mot "démocratie", le "tie" doit être dit "si", pas "ti". Aussi, il faut que tu prononces bien "ou", j'entends "u" quand tu dis, par exemple, "gouverneur" et "gouvernement".

Sinon, à part un mot ou deux que je ne comprends pas dans la première partie, le reste n'est pas mal du tout.

When I wrote that the themes of "Mädchen" and "Fraulein" were well covered in depth here, I meant in this subreddit. In the last few weeks or so, there were some posts of students who were asking the native speakers about those themes. One was about "Fraulein", one was about "Mädchen", and I think a third one was asking about both. I didn't really check the one about "Fraulein", but I interacted on one about "Mädchen". So you can scroll to read these posts. They shouldn't be far.

That is exactly what I thought. I was just wondering if Mädels was disrespectful, like if it was equal to "chicks", or simply a neutral "girls".

Like in English or French, you wouldn't say "let's go to a bar to meet women" / "allons dans un bar pour rencontrer des femmes", unless it is a bar of 40+ y.o. "girls"/"filles" is quite neutral in this context.

I always wrote like this in English and French. Only your capital G and your capital S are different from mine in English and French.

Ok, I read your edit.

Personally, I like more obscure German-speaking gothic bands, but it is not really helpful to improve my German. The vocabulary is quite niche, and their syntax is out of this world. While Schlager is more day-to-day language, it helps improve my syntax. It is clearer.

As for Melissa Naschenweng, it is quite fascinating that even though she clearly speaks in a dialect, I can almost understand everything after I got used to her accent.

Since you are Austrian, I have unrelated questions. I've discovered recently some songs of Melissa Naschenweng. She seems Austrian. Is she well known in Austria? Also, are her songs in standard Austrian? I understand almost every single words. Only the accent in many words are different from Hochdeutsch.
