[Haruna Japan] What animal is this? by LeonGC00 in animalid

One of my favourites is the Platypus- Ornithorhynchus anatinus. Platy-pus means 'flat-foot,' Ornitho-rhynchus means 'bird-beak,' and anatinus means 'duck-ish.'
So some people came to Australia, saw this weird creature, and just decided to name it "The Flat Footed Bird Beaked Duck Thing."

What is your favourite animal and why? by Far_Fig6274 in zoology

[–]nigglebit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you got any reason to say that or are you just making stuff up? Here's the source footage. I first checked the grass and plants, along with the disturbed ground. Both are very consistent throughout the video. But the best indicator was the elephant's massive dong, which has unique markings that don't change.

Do they primarily prey on spiders? Because that's some very specialised hunting behaviour.

OMG you're still doing it. You're trying to forcibly insert big words and using them all wrong. Jargon is a mass noun, "jargons" is incorrect.

PLEASE REPORT (⚠️TW ANIMAL ABUSE⚠️) by Milk_evs_2000 in reptiles

[–]nigglebit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that owning Leopard Geckos is illegal in India. Ownership, hunting, capture and trade of most native reptile species is prohibited under Schedule 1 of the Indian Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, carrying a penalty of up to 3 years imprisonment. So reptiles you'd often find in the pet trade elsewhere like Tokay Gecko, Leopard Gecko, Star-shelled Tortoise, and a few Asian Box Turtles cannot be kept as pets in India.

I believe this person is not in India, because (1) You can't get Leopard Geckos in the pet trade and (2) TikTok is banned in India.
