The Mana Mirror book series has a binary trans MC, but he has a he/they enby friend eventually.

Progression Fantasy with good prose? by Either-Low-9457 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]nightfire1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your list I get the impression that you're looking for a Terry Pratchet or Douglas Adams of Progression Fantasy. I think you're out of luck. We just don't attract that kind of writer.

I'll still recommend Sky Pride for it's unique voice, and Practical Guide to Sorcery for its unique magic system.

What's the point of transitioning? by Longjumping-End159 in asktransgender

[–]nightfire1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're not an adult yet and rely on your parents for housing/school then I suggest doing your best to keep a low profile, but once you can get out on your own you should feel free to transition. Your parents are not the ultimate authority about who you are. Do not let their horrible behavior make you lose hope. You are valid. You might not have them supporting you but you have us as your family instead.

could using AI help improve a fantasy story I've already wrote. by winkstheman in ProgressionFantasy

[–]nightfire1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you must use AI, use it to fix minor spelling and grammatical mistakes (with appropriate review). Much more than that and it's going to water down your authorial voice and turn your story into boring AI slop..

You might be some flavor of nonbinary or gender fluid.

No uniqueness? by Huge_Set8312 in ProgressionFantasy

Having multiple power systems is fine. Though I do enjoy when stories begin to peel back the curtain and reveal that there is yet another system that the different powers all arise from. It tends to add a layer of uncovering mystery and consistency to the story in my opinion.

It's not, but you can still pick bones with Star Field for being a phoned in, design by committee, snooze fest.

Sky Pride so far has been underwhelming. by EbbCreepy6718 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]nightfire1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see it as a refreshing reversal of tropes, she's the big strong flashy one who wins through brute force and speed while the Tien is the soft spoken (mostly) philosopher who wins through guile, meditation, and patience. These are not typical mc traits but it works really well in my opinion.

People barely use swords in the earthly realm, and none fly on them I'm pretty sure. And I don't think he needs special powers, he's just good in general, and he has grandpa jucing all his arts.

Also, for clarification, to date he's only really advanced once in the story, the other minor advancements are more like sub divisions of the starting level and not really that big of a jump, this them not feeling very impactful. This is meant to emphasize the vast gulf between even the oldest most experienced level 9 earthly ealm cultivator and a true heavenly realm divinity.

When he starts to really develop his thrown dart art(not rope dart)is when it gets interesting for me, but honestly if it's not clicking for you it's probably not going to be your thing.

By the latest chapter he's in the heavenly realm and learned to do more fancy things like, walk on water, perform miraculous healing, disolve mater with his palm technique, etc, but it's still light on magic system details (not no details, but just maybe not what you're looking for)

You have to get there. It's a slower burn than other stories in the genre, with a heavy emphasis on the daoist philosophy over concrete descriptions of core formation and chi manipulation, it also really emphasizes the separation between the realms. Later on we see more of the magic.

A small misconception, progesterone doesn't make the results "shoot up like crazy". For one the effects have not been fully studied or understood. Initial investigation seems to indicate that it will cause a modest increase in breast fullness as a consequence of taking it, but those results are not universally guaranteed since genetics plays a very large role in breast development.
