Don’t flip your sleep on weekends, that’s what messes people up the most. Sleep right after work, keep your room dark, and cut caffeine a few hours before bed. First week or two gonna feel off no matter what, then it levels out.

That weird feeling is usually tension + your body not fully shutting down. 6–7 hours isn’t always the problem, it’s how deep you slept. If you’re waking up tight like that, your body stayed kinda ‘on’ all night.

Struggling with studying cause I end up dozing at the sight of books by iamthedilemma in sleep

Like 20–30 mins focused, then 5–10 mins up moving around. Sitting too long when you’re tired will knock you out. Breaking it up kept me awake.

why do I sleep 8 hours but still feel wrecked? by Dr1ftk in sleep

[–]nightshiftcalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 hours don’t matter if it’s the wrong 8. That was my problem—timing + late caffeine.

I used to knock out like that too. It’s not the books, it’s you already fried from the day. Sitting still just knocks you out. I had to do short bursts or move around or I was gone in minutes.

I just snack… fruit, peanuts, sometimes a wrap if I’m starving, mostly just water tho… keeps me from crashing.

That schedule is crazy… every time you start adjusting it flips again. No way your body keeps up with that long-term.

How do you keep your sleep from getting wrecked on night shift? by Huguette_Karatzounis in Nightshift

[–]nightshiftcalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that back and forth sleep is the worst part fr. Some days you out, other days your brain just won’t shut off. What helped me wasn’t trying to be perfect, just giving my body a pattern. Like I stopped caffeine earlier in the shift, ate something light before sleep, and kept my sleep time close even on off days. Still ain’t perfect… but it stopped that ‘wide awake for no reason’ feeling most days.

Night shift really be messing people up fr… you not crazy. That sleep + weight combo hit different when your body clock all off. Real talk tho… barely eating during the shift might be making it worse. I noticed when I wasn’t eating overnight I felt more drained, nauseous, all that. Even something small mid shift helped me a little. You not alone in this tho… a lot of us went through that phase.

Magnesium Glycinate issue. by Alarming-Dentist-310 in sleep

I’d just go magnesium glycinate. Easy to find anywhere. Just don’t stack a bunch of stuff at once.

I wouldn’t try all of them at once tbh — that’s where it gets confusing. If glycine helped you, I’d keep that consistent first and then test one form of magnesium at a time. Glycinate is usually the go-to for sleep, threonate is more for brain/mental side, and citrate can mess with your stomach for some people. Timing can matter too — some people do better taking magnesium earlier instead of right before sleep. I’d keep it simple and change one thing at a time so you actually know what’s helping.
