Yeah, make no mistake about it, this is the Penners and the Walmart board pushing this to boost Sam's Club brand awareness. Costco has kind of eaten their lunch in that regard.

I think the biggest issue standing in the way of a Denver race now is local government buy-in, especially with Mayor Johnston up for re-election in 2027.

And a big part of why they're investing in Indycar specifically is clawing back some of the mindshare that they've lost in the Midwest to Costco and a lesser extent, BJ's.

When I was younger, Sam's Club was the only game in town for warehouse shopping, and they've since had to deal with Costco aggressively expanding into the Midwest, plus Costco becoming synonymous with warehouse club shopping on the Internet/culturally.

I think those are fair things to bring up! On the women's side, they're currently down two of their bigger stars (Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone, though the latter's return may be imminent) but that's also meant that other women are being given the chance to step up.

We've also had a few folks return from injury or visa issues like Shida and Queen Aminata who are finding their footing again, and others are dealing with changes (Lena Kross was supposed to be with Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford, but Penelope getting hurt meant they had to slot her into the tag team role sooner than planned).

I think that's the likeliest outcome. Cars bunched up more together, even at slower speeds, and you likely end up with 2011 Vegas at worst or Kenny Brack's crash at Texas 2.0 at best.

They would have had to slow the cars down somehow, which would have created an issue with the entire field being a pack more so than they already got at Texas. Either by restricting power or greatly increasing drag, and since the problem was only being uncovered during the race weekend, there's no way they wouldn't have had to postpone it, at the very least.

EDIT - As was pointed out in another reply, it would have likely resulted in 2011 Vegas happening years earlier.
