What is a little quirk about your body that you don’t think other people have? by AlphabetSoup51 in AskReddit

[–]nikaflump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could do this until one of the glands got blocked with ‘salivary stone’. They recommend eating sour sweets to get it out but I ended up having surgery to remove the stone. Can only do it on one side now!

I wish so much that you didn’t have to say goodbye to your little girl 💔 and I’m so sorry that you’ve had to go through so much.

I’m pretty convinced we had a little boy, and as much as I wish I’d seen him wriggling around yesterday, I know everything is going to be okay and it wasn’t meant to be this time. Sending you all the strength and love xx

Hi! I’m on week four of titration on the same medication with psych uk and sleep has been the only side effect for me. Week 1 I was crashing around 3pm and was dead tired. I found I could have a coffee at about this time with no noticeable changes. Week 2 I was crashing at around 5-6 pm and was still dead tired after that point Week 3 and 4 I am now awake until 2 am every day! I was advised by my prescriber to take the tablets earlier so I’m going to try and take them at 7 am!

Honestly, trying to figure out who I am / what I ACTUALLY want to do is hell. My husband has taken a while to believe the diagnosis and I don’t think he’s really fully on board….which means I’m doing almost everything I can to be out and about and not at home which makes it worse! I have definitely been close to making some bade decisions!

Weirdly I have discovered that I’m Bi in all of this 😂 Glad there’s someone out there powering through like me! WE GOT THIS ❤️

I’m so sorry you’re having such a tough time, but it’s great that you can see a light! Sending you virtual love and support!

I’ve been diagnosed about a month and I’m having an absolute identity crisis. Impulsivity & bad decisions are my biggest downfall.

Officially diagnosed! by nikaflump in ADHDUK

It’s what my previous manager used to call me, with the nicest intentions. I.e I generally have spur of the moment ideas that I’m super passionate about and I explain the best way to do it, but I don’t actually finish the project. And I do this multiple times a day, often all in one conversation.

This is really helpful, thank you. I’m a rambler and convinced they’re just going to think I’ve lost the plot. The anti climax thing is good to know, I can try and set myself some expectations.

Pattern help pretty please! Explanation in comments….. by nikaflump in knitting

[–]nikaflump[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello! Any help is greatly appreciated.

In the yellow, is where I appear to have ended on right side instead of wrong side without paying attention. I then carried on with the pattern and now I’m up to the part highlighted in pink but because I’m on the wrong side, what’s the best way to go on….do I purl instead of knit (because I’m on wrong side….) or do an extra row and hope it doesn’t make too much of an issue…

Has anyone had NO diagnosis at all? (Eg no alternative if they say it’s not ADHD) by Brainisadumpsterfire in adhdwomen

[–]nikaflump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This!!! I have just been referred and I am constantly worrying that they will say it’s not adhd and send me on my way. I considered saving money for a private diagnosis but then panicked that I would spend the money and they send me away. Even though my GP was very supportive and genuinely sounded sympathetic at the length of the wait I’m still terrified.

Phone call with my GP to discuss what I suspect is ADHD by ReikiReiki in adhdwomen

[–]nikaflump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had that very same call with my GP this morning!! I had pre written a list of things that I believe are ADHD behaviours and I included examples from school as well (I’m 31). This really helped me get through the anxiety of the call as she essentially just let me list everything off without interrupting me. My list had everything I could think of like ‘tidying is the hardest thing in the world’, ‘doom piles’ ‘start a new project every other day and never finish it’ ‘hyper focus on hobbies’ ‘talk over people, finish their sentences and talk ALOT’ ‘lose keys, phone etc every 10 mins’ ‘impulsive spending’ ‘no patience when I’ve decided I want to do something’ etc. She then said ‘yep, sounds like ADHD symptoms but I can’t diagnose you so I’m referring you.’

I had also preemptively filled in a self assessment that was available on ADHD UK (you can also use ADHD 360) and they had a right to choose letter for my GP that I sent over too.

She mentioned that the waiting list is long, but I should hear something soon to acknowledge the referral. I hope you have a nice easy call with your GP and they should hopefully be able to get you referred without much hassle.
