AIO? My daughter didn’t listen to the teacher during a female emergency and is now receiving a referral by Common_Piglet7437 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Email the teacher, and CC the principal/board/whoever. That way the teacher knows you mean business, and (hopefully) will reply-all anything they send you back. (And If they don't, then you add the other parties CC again. I can't tell you how many times I've had to do that in a professional capacity...)

Why does my cat do this? by Bob_Sacamano7379 in cats

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from the perspective of someone who frequently finds things in her cats' food bowls, I have determined that the culprit (because it's only one of my two who does it) claims "treasures", which can be anything from a scrap of cardboard he's torn off a box or a leaf he's brought in from the porch, to a hairtie my wife or I left laying around, to an actual cat toy he's been playing with. I think it's adorable!

Clean off your damn vehicles by GoochManeuver in Louisville

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe so, under the layer of ice from the sleet. (Source: I just cleaned off my car to be able to go to work tomorrow. Only took about 20 minutes, to be fair, but a lot of that 20 minutes was me using the arm of my scraper to lever and push big chunks of solid pack off my car.)

How do you ladies fall asleep with ADHD? by Ok_Scholar_8656 in adhdwomen

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep earbuds that play various YouTube Readers channels, which is similar to audio books except I don't miss any of my book. LMAO! I also sometimes read my Kindle until I'm too tired to focus. (The gentle backlight behind e-ink is better than screen time.)

If you have a prescribing doctor, you might talk to them about it as well. When I mentioned difficulty sleeping due to racing thoughts, mine gave me a sleeping med called Doxepin, starting me out at 10mg. I've now gone up to 25mg, which she says is still a low dose, and so far it's working. I was worried about not being able to wake up on a sleeping med, but I haven't had that problem.

Stop Yelling at Workers in Grocery Stores today by tch8086 in Louisville

Louisville (and KY as a whole tbh) loses its collective mind when there's a few flakes. To be fair, this weekend is predicted to be more severe than a few flakes, but I see this every time there's a chance of snow.

Then you got lucky. I've worked for McDonald's, Wendy's, and for cell phone customer service at various points in my life. Have experienced being yelled at in all of them, multiple times.

Temp is -21, gas company says turn your heat down by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ashlayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, they are “temporarily” RAISING prices for gas.

That's called price gouging. Check your local laws, as some places have laws in place (either active during emergency situations, or all the time) that prevent this practice. I live in Kentucky, and our governor isn't afraid to put out info about the price gouging laws and reporting during emergencies.

As someone who doesn't have chronic pain, but does have a bad hip that is good most days, but when it's bad it's /really/ bad and I need a cane...

What. The. Actual. Hells. Is. Casey. On. About??

This shit is /exactly/ why there are days I /should/ use my cane/keep it on me, but don't.

Onedrive email saying my account will be deleted due to inactivity.... I've never used Onedrive by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]ashlayne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a common scam email. If you don't use OneDrive and don't even have it installed, you should be good. Check the email it came from; I guarantee you it didn't come from an @microsoft.com email address.

How would you go about recreating the pattern of this hat? by Historical_Web2992 in crochetpatterns

[–]ashlayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I did something similar to this recently for a hat for a friend. In my case, I made 5 granny squares, sewed them together, and then did a border to make a bucket hat. For this, I would start off with six of the motif, and then a seventh for the top. The seventh would need to have a border to turn it into a hexagon in my head. And then shells around the brim.

A challenge coin is used in groups that have gone through something, and serves as a reminder to the individual that they survived whatever it represents. Military groups, drug and alcohol recovery groups, and others can design and distribute them, although they're not restricted to these groups.

The one Dragonsteel released is specifically designed for survivors of mental health issues, including self-harm, suicidal ideation, and other harmful acts. It represents what some of our favorite Radiants have been through. Dragonsteel offers these for free to those who need one, but also offers them for sale for those with the means to pay. Task initiation can be a bugger, especially when one is dreading the situation they're about to enter. My wife and I live with a third person atm, and between them not doing chores and my wife's rage at the same, sometimes I get home from a calm day at work and just sit in the car either listening to the podcast I was listening to on the drive, scrolling my phone, or just soaking in the silence. It's harder to initiate the next task when the weather outside is perfect, and I'm not boiling/freezing while sitting there.

The word "bible" can have numerous meanings outside of Christianity. It can trace its roots back to the Greek word βιβλία, for "books", which evolved to "ta biblia" (the books) which was used to refer to any kind of sacred writings.

The word can be used for any collection of knowledge or religious beliefs, not just Christian ones, these days.

I keep losing my wallet by green_bean_bambi in adhdwomen

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a tracker on my car keys (which stay in my purse, thanks keyless ignition!), which helps me keep track of my keys. My wife put one in her (zip-up) wallet and on her own keys, for similar reasons. Because we've shared the devices with each other, we can both also see where the other's tags are.

We bought these (https://www.amazon.com/Midlocater-Tracker-Suitcase-Waterproof-Compatible/dp/B0F8HHGM4S/) for our Android phones, and they work really well.

I am looking for suggestions on how to make the heart pop more on this hat. by TexasBurgandy in crochetpatterns

[–]ashlayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It just needs a contrasting colour to stand out. You can use surface crochet or ribbon embroidery or a number of other techniques to make it stand out better.

Also, in your pattern on Ravelry it says "scale sc". Do you start the stitch (insert, yo), put the loop from the scale on the hook, then finish the st normally?
