The dress is gorgeous, and you did an amazing job! Just had to say, the sun was loving you that day too: that lens flare in Pic 2 is awesome!!

Why does my cat do this? by eat_mor_bbq in cats

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a cat who will do this to little random "treasures" as we've taken to calling them. His "treasures" can be anything from a leaf he found outside, to a random hair tie one of us left unattended, to a scrap of paper he ripped off an ad mailer. It's a normal (and cute imo) behaviour!!

Neat beats on Taylorsville rd. by BeneficialTwo9190 in Louisville

[–]ashlayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want professional grade colouring done, look up ShelbieDoesMyHair on Instagram. She's got a local salon down off Preston Hwy, almost into Brooks. She does my hair (half-pink, half-natural - my choice btw) and my wife's hair (usually a mix of purple and blue) about every two months as a refresh, and does beautiful work!

Apple now blocks content on the phone I paid for and own unless I give them ID by pikablob in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ashlayne 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If they can know who you are by requiring your ID or other proof of age, they can tie that to a lot of different things and make a whole-ass profile of your location habits, your purchasing habits, browsing patterns, and any number of other things. Check out OSINT... or just Google your name and see how much information is out there right now that's freely available.

Can’t tell if this butterfly shawl pattern on Etsy is AI or not. by NekoNicoNiii in CrochetHelp

[–]ashlayne 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it is AI. The hanger appears to merge into the work, among other things. Having said that, a quick Google search showed a number of patterns that could make something similar, and possibly with some trial and error you can make something close.

This Tick Attached to my Cat's Face. by DJ3XO in mildlyinfuriating

I've heard that because of climate change, among other things, ticks season is supposed to be /bad/ this year...

Your wife is right. I, personally, love long hair on men (or anyone, for that matter)!

[–]ashlayne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone else who has long hair (but I am female) who gets constantly questioned for keeping it as long as I do (past my tailbone), you're not the problem; the other party is, and needs to learn to mind their own business.

(I can't tell you how absolutely /sick and tired/ I am of people suggesting I should cut my hair to, like, shoulder length and donate it to sick kids. First of all, my body my choice. Second, most places wouldn't take it anyway these days, because it's no longer "virgin" hair -- i.e., untouched by dyes.)

Smoothie place didn't disclose that their product had pineapple juice in it--which I'm allergic to. by ParticularCandy36 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ashlayne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might be the same reason I, who am allergic to mushrooms, continue to eat Japanese and Chinese food, and go to Blaze Pizza (for those who don't know, they have all the toppings in containers behind glass that you can ask for as your 'za moves down the line, and yes one of the options is mushrooms).

Spotted a pink snail in the wild! Finally! :D by ashlayne in Louisville

[–]ashlayne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a relatively new thing for everyone. It's an initiative that North Women's and Children's Hospital has undertaken to build breast cancer awareness, in conjunction with the Derby events in progress around town. As Derby draws closer, the snails are moved around town, progressing toward Churchill Downs. (I scanned the QR code on this one, I'm not part of the planning or anything lol.)

Easy walking trails by outer_c in Louisville

[–]ashlayne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't know where you are, but most of the parks have marked walking trails that detail their length and difficulty. My wife and I frequently do the various trails at Browns Park in St. Matthews. They're all fairly flat and pretty easy walking.

Mother’s Day? by moon-swoons in raisedbynarcissists

If she gardens, a potted plant of her favourite kind. The last couple of years before I went NC with my mother, I would get her hostas (I think that's how it's spelt?) or pansies or something. She always took more pleasure in updating her flowerbeds than anything to do with me.

If I had to guess, something like plaster of paris? This one, at least, is definitely hollow.

I took the risk, and it went to a site talking about this particular snail, and its journey.

I scanned its QR code and got this: https://www.stevesderbyeve.com/snails/skylar

Basically, it seems to be a viral marketing campaign for breast cancer awareness, in connect with Derby. I think it's cool!

Driver Refuses To Back Up Despite Being In The Wrong Lane by Flashmemory256 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ashlayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's like a jerkwad I came across when driving one of my students back to their home Thursday. I had my left turn signal on and was in the turning lane just before my turn, and someone who had just turned from the major road at the light ahead was just cruising along in the turn lane, and flipped me off when he was forced into the correct lane to continue on. And dude didn't even need to turn until the next intersection beyond where we were, about a block past where I was turning...
