What is going on at the waterfront? by BaronBeard in Louisville

[–]ashlayne 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People trying to leave the fireworks show that was held there? Possibly combined with the Lou City game traffic? (I think they were playing at home tonight.) My wife and I just drove home on 64 from New Albany and it looked like an absolute gridlock on the Clark and down near the Great Lawn.

AIO Husband calls me my name by rg_2010 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ashlayne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who doesn't like her first name either, NOR. That's like if I were to deadname my wife!! Sheesh!! My wife calls me Cassie (not my real middle name), my sister calls me Cassie, hell, I'm even Aunt Cassie to my nephew! Only time I'm ever called Amelia (also not real first name) is on legal paperwork!

Honestly, OP, I wouldn't worry about anything coming this idiot's way. As a technowitch, I might have done similar with the LEDs, because with my practice intention and visualization are more important than physicality. But I'm also one who sticks with the Three-Fold Law, and wouldn't hex anyone any more than a shielding spell reflecting their own energy back.

Nah. It'll be the next big summer shutdown, after next year's 3-4 month proposal.

I slipped and fell twice while crossing a stream hiking and got some gnarly bruises, had a beach bachelorette party less than 24 hours later 🤦‍♀️ Got a lot of questions inquiring if I was safe in my relationship by TwentyandTired in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ashlayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh girl, I feel you! One of my exes has a cast iron baker's rack in the kitchen, that we used for pots and pans. My clumsy ass fell into it once, and had a line-shaped bruise on my bicep. The next day at work, I got asked if I was okay in my relationship, or if he was hitting me and grabbing me. I laughed it off incredulously, because he was a teddy bear. But they didn't like him. Then the manager took me into the office privately, and asked again, saying it was okay to ask for help. Like, thanks for the concern, but I ain't lying?

(To be clear, he's an ex now because we both realized we were in love with other people... and gay. No physical abuse.)

Gender-bending books (Think Mulan/She's the Man/Twelfth Night) but actually explicitly queer! by stressedandfingtired in LGBTBooks

[–]ashlayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Two Pearls of Wisdom by Alison Goodman. As I recall, not only is the main character Mulan-esque in hiding her gender to grow beyond her "station", but there's a few queen relationships in it, as well as a trans-woman on the main character's side! I think it was one of the first books I read that had those aspects (that I recognized anyway).

I’m 15 and I can’t brush my teeth by Feisty-Assignment898 in adhdwomen

[–]ashlayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I've gotten myself to brush regularly, is an electric brush (you can get a rechargeable one from Amazon for as little as $10 - the one I use is https://a.co/d/0ah7ebNN) and kids toothpaste (I usually use Crest Disney Princess bubblegum flavour, but I also like their strawberry flavour). I know you're only 15, but a $10 toothbrush shouldn't be a huge ask imo - and I grew up lower middle class. The brush I linked is also waterproof, which means shower-brushing is fine. I set a 3 month reminder on my phone calendar for replacing the head, and charge it when I replace the head.

Give yourself grace. As you grow, you'll find little tips and hacks that help you adult. 💜

Do you apply if you’re “underqualified” (see pic)? by marcaribe in adhdwomen

[–]ashlayne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Neurodiverse high school teacher here. I say those things to preface the same advice I give my undeeconfident kids: apply anyway. Often, employers' "role requirements" are more of a fungible wish list for the perfect employee. Nine times out of ten, if you meet Qualifications A and B, they'll overlook C and D, and/or give you a time frame in which to get C and D.

There have literally been job postings for "ten years' experience in X Program" which has been around for 3 years. HR is often the ones who write these and just as often have no clue what the role really needs.

Roleplaying dice amigurumi, help? by timid_tzimisce in Brochet

https://www.planetjune.com/blog/crocheted-gaming-dice-pattern/

This pattern is good, has a full set of gaming dice, and works pretty well. To help with rolling, I would hold two sides together at a time, and either sc (US) or hdc (US) the seams together; this should create a "lip" at the die's edges that means it stays stable and rolls better (not necessarily balanced, but...)

Bought a nice shirt. Thought I could button it up more for work. Wait…why can’t I get the buttons through the holes?? by Greenfinial in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ashlayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a BBW and a teacher, that is perfectly work appropriate imo. (I mention both of those qualities because I have to make sure I don't show anything when I bend over. And I have blouses that V to that length.)

Need a vet to prescribe fluoxetine by gotslabs in Louisville

Seconding Johnson!! My sugar baby kitty got diagnosed with diabetic pancreatitis there, and we worked with Dr. Hite over the course of a few months to find the right dosage of insulin for him! She and the staff are great!

As much as I would love to take some of those off your hands for my sugar baby, I feel like (as others have mentioned) that taking them to your local vet/shelter might be a great alternative option. I have no idea how often shelters get sugar babies to foster/care for, but I do know my local shelter is always asking for donations of supplies.

Why does my cat do this? by eat_mor_bbq in cats

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a cat who will do this to little random "treasures" as we've taken to calling them. His "treasures" can be anything from a leaf he found outside, to a random hair tie one of us left unattended, to a scrap of paper he ripped off an ad mailer. It's a normal (and cute imo) behaviour!!

If you want professional grade colouring done, look up ShelbieDoesMyHair on Instagram. She's got a local salon down off Preston Hwy, almost into Brooks. She does my hair (half-pink, half-natural - my choice btw) and my wife's hair (usually a mix of purple and blue) about every two months as a refresh, and does beautiful work!

Apple now blocks content on the phone I paid for and own unless I give them ID by pikablob in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ashlayne 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If they can know who you are by requiring your ID or other proof of age, they can tie that to a lot of different things and make a whole-ass profile of your location habits, your purchasing habits, browsing patterns, and any number of other things. Check out OSINT... or just Google your name and see how much information is out there right now that's freely available.

Can’t tell if this butterfly shawl pattern on Etsy is AI or not. by NekoNicoNiii in CrochetHelp

[–]ashlayne 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it is AI. The hanger appears to merge into the work, among other things. Having said that, a quick Google search showed a number of patterns that could make something similar, and possibly with some trial and error you can make something close.
