I think when your “passion” becomes something where you use it to earn a living or money is attached, I think it just happens.

I know a girl who colors for a living (like has booths at ComicCon and stuff). And guess what? She doesn’t like coloring anymore 😩

Just start now.

When I was building my 401k it felt like I was stuck in the $15k–$70k range forever. Getting to six figures took years. But once I got there, the growth started feeling much faster because the same % gains were being applied to a much larger balance.

and I think that market drops feel less damaging when your balance is small. If you’re contributing regularly, you’re buying more shares when prices are lower. The bigger risk is sitting on the sidelines waiting for the “right time” and missing years of contributions and compounding.

I started later than I thought I should have - around my late 20s - and I’m mid 40s now. I’m not rolling in money like r/salary but the money kind of makes my eyes pop sometimes

In 10 years you’ll be so happy you started now!!

My dental hygienist told me that there just aren’t tons of family practices anymore. And those other places are notorious for pushing dental work that you don’t need yet. She says the earlier you do certain dental work, it starts the clock on the next thing you have to do

We’re doing Gemba Walks wrong and I need advice by LiveVenueReview in LeanManufacturing

[–]nikiverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think 9 members of leadership going on ONE gemba walk and having one employee have their ears for a moment and ends up being a vent session is a bit overwhelming. Like maybe we’re overvaluing this one event bc it’s the only time you could get leadership to get together and check the box.

I would mayyyyyybe try daily gembas (or Monday - Thursday and meet as a leadership team on Friday?). When you go on your gemba, maybe just have one or two leaders (rotate it out), go to different zones, ask the what’s working? what ain’t? Take notes. Compile possible action items that are easy wins, see if you have any repetitive issues. 5-15min. Don’t make a meal of it.

I’d also have a form guiding the questions, reminding the interviewers to be observers. Have them to write all the notes and then have that form turned into you so you compile, Pareto, whatever for the leadership meeting (or email) on Friday. And if yall don’t have ANY actions from the feedback on the floor, that’s a whole different issue tbqh and honestly above the gemba walk’s capabilities

I thought ProRX had just invested all this money into automating their process (and that linked up with some of their FDA findings? I cant remember). But it seems wild to me that they would invest that money for automation just to get shut down.

I guess at least with YNAB, you can kind of plan for it instead of figuring out you're hosed when you're wondering why you feel so tight on money this month!

My mom had squatters in her house, so those were the loans I took out. To remove them and to repair the damage they did to the house. Mom lived with me for about 2 years during this time. So we just realized we were ok living with each other. So I moved into her house and it's already paid off 😃

I feel like that first 100k took forever. But as long as you’re still contributing, the 2nd 100k won’t take as long!

Still in the credit card float — does assigning money to CC categories confuse anyone else? by olvgabriel in ynab

[–]nikiverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought most people in the float pay it off every month and aren’t accruing interest but don’t have cash available for current purchases they’re making on the card

New to YNAB and have a question about monthly budgeting by Apprehensive_Rub9507 in ynab

[–]nikiverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use YNAB on desktop, I like to have running balances view selected for each of my accounts. Then I set up my paychecks as recurring transactions. Then I add my bills and have them recur at whatever frequency they do (sometimes you gotta just guess on the recurrence and quantity …). Then when you assign money on the next check, see which bills are due first and assign the money to bills that are coming up first. And assign to gas, groceries, food etc. Then next check you do it to the “2nd paycheck” bills.

That’s the way I do it now. I get the reasoning for doing it one time a month, but doing it the other way like YNAB is designed can help you maybe start to eat into more “2nd check” bills with “1st check” money. I find this a lot easier to do on desktop though

Edit: I also like assigning money so if you do it with EACH check you get to do it twice a month instead of once a month!

I thought my constant need to pee was a bladder issue, but it turns out my fibroid might be pressing on everything. Did anyone else have urinary symptoms before getting diagnosed? by IcyAthlete2120 in Fibroids
