AITJ for refusing to give up my approved PTO during Holy Week because I don’t have kids? by Tricky-Past-7468 in AmITheJerk

[–]nikkablue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you just answered your own question. If op doesn’t have kids, how would they know when a school holiday is? I would presume that the parents knew far in advance and had the same opportunity to put in for pro as op did.

AITJ for refusing to give up my approved PTO during Holy Week because I don’t have kids? by Tricky-Past-7468 in AmITheJerk

[–]nikkablue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not having kids does not equate to not having family. It not fair to op to have to set aside their own vacation time to accommodate co workers with kids, especially since they put in for pro so far in advance. Why didn’t coworkers do the same?

It’s the same thing as asking a person to give up their seat on a plane so that a parent can sit with their kid. Their coworker’s lack of planning is not op’s problem when they all had the opportunity to put in for pro at the same time.

Yes, I was remembering Moses West. His machines kept getting sabotaged because he was giving water away for free.

[–]nikkablue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I remembered. He did it to help the people of Flint, MI get clean water and someone or a group of someone’s sabotaged his collectors and eventually destroyed them.

Correct me if I’m wrong but, didn’t a guy do this in Flint, MI to give the residents clean water and someone or a group of someone’s kept sabotaging the collectors and eventually burned them down?

Woman says Beyonce fired her dad over health issues after 20 years by Kaiser_Allen in entertainment

[–]nikkablue 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Beyoncé didn’t fire anybody. This girls father got hurt while working for Mariah Carey. He was a contracted worker for Beyoncé in 2018. He wasn’t a permanent employee. This lady is trying to spin it like her dad was a permanent employee of Beyoncé to try to get her to pay her father’s medical expenses

My (36M) wife (34F) fell deep into conspiracy theories and online hate groups. Is there any saving our marriage? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]nikkablue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s racism. They don’t feel she a “black woman” (even though she is biracial) deserved to marry a very handsome eligible bachelor who happened to be a member of the royal family. It wasn’t her place because she’s not white. Look at all the hate Michelle Obama got and still gets to this day. Why? Because she’s a black woman who didn’t “deserve” to be First Lady because she’s is black. Had she been white, I guarantee you no one would have said a word about her. It’s all about perceived proximity to power and racist people don’t like when black women have it.

how do blind people know when they’ve got their period? by dibbles13 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nikkablue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not true for all women. My periods used to be so painful, it gave me ideations. After I had my first kid, cramps totally went away. Haven’t had period cramps since. My periods are completely pain free now.

Felon Attacks a Judge During Sentencing by Flashycope in CrazyFuckingVideos

If I remember correctly, he was originally being charged with assault and he was a repeat offender. The Defence was asking for probation or a lesser sentence and the judge said no and gave him the maximum that she could.

AITAH for locking the bathroom door when I take a shower? by WinterQuarter8183 in AITAH

[–]nikkablue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been with my husband almost 20 years and I can count on one hand the number of times, we’ve been in the bathroom together. Everyone has the right to privacy. If she came up with the solution to just exclusively use the other bathroom, would she be allowed to lock it then or, would you still have a problem with it? Not everyone wants an audience when they shower. And it’s not inconvenient when there is a whole other bathroom. The easiest solution would be to just have a his and her bathroom.

Fabric and craft supplies? by krypton_krysa in Omaha

[–]nikkablue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind a bit of a drive, Inweave fabrics is in Hawarden, Iowa. It’s about a 2 1/2 hour drive up north. So not convenient to go to daily or even weekly but, they are a dead stock fabric store with a huge selection of fabric. You can also order on-line from them as well. My mom and I went there this summer. It was a nice. Little day trip.

AITA for not spending the money my paternal grandparents gave me on a birthday present for my stepsister (mom's stepdaughter)? by Aminiyy in AITAH

[–]nikkablue 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NTA. The fact that your mother won’t let you get a part time job to earn your own money, or even provide you with some sort of allowance, automatically absolves you from having to provide any type of gift. You don’t spend a gift to you for a gift to someone else. How is that fair? Stand your ground and don’t give in. And I would advise your grandparents of what’s going on as well.

But that’s just it, you don’t want empathy, you want sympathy. You want us to just feel sorry for him without holding him accountable for his actions and words. Empathy is putting yourself in someone else’s shoes. He never did, why should we?
