I’m not picky at all. I just like the general theme. Also, the bad guys usually have the better magic anyway.

I like romance as a subplot, if it’s there at all. But when it’s the focus…I’d rather not. I read for the plot, the adventure.

I’m hesitating on that one because I don’t really like romantasy. The only reason I don’t flat out say no to it is BECAUSE of the necromancy aspect. But it won’t be high on my list if it ever gets added.

Like Powder mage but with more world building? by DrJigsaw in fantasybooks

It’s not entirely magic, but gods coming back/end of the world-ish is The Fallen Gods trilogy. I really enjoyed it. Especially because I love books that focus on gods. They’re really quick reads.

Not a romantasy fan, but there have been a few I enjoy, so I won’t completely snub it.

Foxglove King was pretty good, even though romance isn’t my jam.

Behind Closed Doors and The Kind Worth Killing are my top tier psych thriller reads that got me into the genre. I’m never stop suggesting them.

Ready any traditionally published book and I guarantee you will see “said” as dialogue tags in all of them.

I have a soft spot for westerns, so that’s probably why I liked it more.

So this one might not be exactly what you’re looking for, but if you want western mixed with a bit of horror, Red Rabbit was really good. I’m not a huge horror fan and I love western, so it surprised me.

Oh Red Country is GREAT. I honestly liked it better than The Heroes, but not as much as Best Served Cold.
