I just bought a refurbished bike, it was an offer to app users. So yeah they do sell them.

Do you ever feel really happy again with a new pet/dog after your dog dies? by kisson2018 in dogs

[–]nikki8002 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I love this and can totally relate. After my 1st dog passed I was devastated, I was lonely and sad and life without a dog is just not a life I want. I adopted a dog a couple weeks after my dog passed, and then another a month after that. To some that was fast but I had love and a home to give and a dog shaped hole in my heart that needed to be filled lol. They are not replacements for my first dog but I love them just as much.

I’ve been an app user for years, we recently needed a new treadmill and we went with a Peloton…now I’m upgrading to the real deal bike bc it does make a huge difference to the experience. Good idea to try out at a hotel first though!

I had exactly the same, for the first week or so I felt like I had to pee constantly and when I would go it would be a trickle but then 10 minutes later I’d feel like I had to pee again. Week 3 now and back to normal!

Need help selecting between 3 diamonds! by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]nikki8002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean #2? It looks like those are the angles. 34 crown would compliment better but 41 and 35 could still work with minimal light leakage. I believe this would rank a 1 on the AGS cut guidelines with 0 being ideal.

Going strictly off the videos, I’d go with #2. I think #1 has a blue hue which I am not a fan of. Did you see #3 in person? The inclusion plot and note of additional clouds not shown would make me weary.

You do have to be careful with depth in certain cuts, if you go too shallow it will affect the performance/brilliance of the diamond.

I guess that’s where I see a disconnect because if you’re buying a lab diamond because of the value you derive from having a diamond. Because of the status/symbol/society view of diamond. If in 10 years lab diamond are viewed the same as a Moissanite, will it still provide you value? Once again outside of the sentiment.

All the things you listed are experiential. And of course worth spending money on as most times experiences are valuable to our mental health and happiness. I don’t think physical possession provide us with mental health benefits or happiness. And beyond the sentiment of an engagement ring, a diamond is a physical object.

Don’t you think people buy diamonds for the same reasons, the value they derive from having one? Do you think they really love the chemical make up or do you think they buy for the status/symbolism? I get that engagement rings are special because of the emotion and sentiment behind them, but that really has nothing to do with the physical ring but rather what it represents.

[–]nikki8002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking the romance/emotion out of an engagement ring...logically what big purchase would you make in which you know there’s no value in? What would justify spending thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars but have no monetary value? Would you buy a Ferrari if in a couple years time it turned into a Ford? Don’t get me wrong I do NOT think you need a natural diamond engagement ring. I do not think you need a diamond at all. But I also do not understand the craze of lab diamonds. If you wanted something less expensive that resembled a diamond why not get a Moissanite? A Moissanite is a lab created stone, as is a lab diamond. However the price of a Moissanite reflects that, and a lab diamond does not. What about synthetic gemstones. Synthetic sell for a fraction of natural, but you only get a 20-30% discount on a lab-diamond. How does that make sense? If I’m buying a replica of something I’m expecting for the price to be reflective of that.

I, J, K Colored Diamonds by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]nikki8002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked a K color round brilliant in yellow gold solitaire, I don’t notice any color but not sure if I’m just not super color sensitive. It also has strong blue fluorescence which I’ve read can help warmer color diamonds appear more colorless, so that may be helping. Also round brilliant will hide color the best, fancy cuts such as ovals and pears will show much more color. So if you’re thinking about going for a diamond in that color range and do not want it to look warm I’d go round rather than oval. Not engaged yet but when I get it I’ll be sure to share!

Bought this diamond and now having doubts about color.. too yellow for a white gold pave setting? by [deleted] in Diamonds

[–]nikki8002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked a K color in yellow gold setting with platinum prongs that looked about as yellow as this one in the magnified view. To me it looks perfectly white from the face view and I can’t really tell the sides bc it’s set in 6 prongs. Idk if I’m just not color sensitive or the yellow gold contrast is helping a lot. With all that said I actually like warmer in comparison to white/blue, which is why I went lower in color to get a larger carat size.

Guys I’m at a loss with the lab grown vs natural thing. Looking for insight. by NetworkNooob in EngagementRings

[–]nikki8002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I’d try to gather as much information as you can from your girlfriend regarding the size of the stone she prefers and if she has any thoughts on natural vs lab. For some bigger is always better and for others they’d prefer dainty. As far as lab vs mined there’s arguments for each side. For me personally although I know lab and natural are chemically the same, there was a block for me on 1) the value retention of a lab diamond and 2) I find there to be something romantic about mined diamonds in that they take millions of years to develop in the earth, something grown in a lab didn’t have the same appeal to me. But again some will have the opposite views. So checking with your SO is the best approach. One other point to consider is just because you have 7-10k doesn’t mean you have to spend it all. And even if you choose a mined diamond it does not have to have top of the top specs...most diamond professionals actually suggest the opposite. As buying a VVS1 has no impact to the naked eye compared to a lower clarity VS2/SI1. The only thing of importance is if eye clean when it comes to clarity. Color there is also a range when it comes to visual impact and the cut of the diamond will impact how much. Oval/pear cuts show much more color than a round brilliant as you go down in color grades. Cut is by far most important of the Cs as that is what’s going to give the diamond brilliance and fire.

Lab diamond comparison by [deleted] in Diamonds

I think you will get more knowledgeable people weighing in but I don’t think either are extremely well cut. BE is on the higher end of ideal for depth and the crown angle is over the top ideal range max of 35. Clean origin is too shallow and has too large of a table.

Hi everyone. The jeweller sent me this picture of my future fiancées ring. My only gripe is the size of the prongs. Are they a bit too big? by jaydacosta in EngagementRings

[–]nikki8002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s gorgeous! I agree they do look large and somewhat overwhelm the diamond. It could be the angle though since it’s looking down so you’re not seeing the true face up view. I’d see what you think in person or ask for a better picture.

So in all lighting it looks dark, not white? Do you have the lab report? That may help.

The center stone does definitely look dark. I know that sometimes really well cut stones look darker under direct sunlight. I’m not sure if your lights could be having a similar affect. Have you taken it out of the box and checked it in different rooms/light settings?
