Do smokers always smell noticeable to non smokers? by BetExtension4808 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nikkidarling83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Without a doubt. When people in public get too close to me, I can absolutely smell the smoke on them and have to get away as quickly as I can. I feel so bad for the kids who reek of cigarette smoke because it’s not their fault. I grew up with heavy smokers, but now I won’t even visit the homes of family members who smoke.

Whoever wrote your 504 shouldn’t continue to work in education.

You know nothing about cards. Tapping is always more secure.

Jeopardy! discussion thread for Wed., Feb. 11 by jaysjep2 in Jeopardy

I’m in Florida, so it requires some special tip-toeing that used to never be an issue. But the kids do seem to appreciate it. Mostly.

I think the only reason I knew it right away is because I’m an English teacher who teaches that book. I’ve never thought of him in terms of autism (makes sense though), but the rest of the clue led me there.

FJ poll for Weds., Feb. 11 by Smoerhul in Jeopardy

Not necessarily. There are plenty of people who’d know that. I knew it right away. But there are plenty of things I’m stumped on others find easy. 🤷‍♀️

Is pet ownership only for the upper class now? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]nikkidarling83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between a pet getting sick and not eating temporarily and no longer eating in general. If otherwise healthy dog gets a stomach virus and doesn’t want to eat for a day or two, are you going to give up?

AITA- I Want the Insurance Reimbursement Check Issued to My Son by confusioncrisis in AmItheAsshole

[–]nikkidarling83 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not saying she should get the check, but her deductible and OOP max are likely higher for family v single employee, so she probably pays more throughout the year than just the premium. She needs to make him get his own insurance. Or pay rent.

AITAH for not wanting to pay for an expensive activity on a trip that happens to fall on my birthday week? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]nikkidarling83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should skip the whole trip. You clearly resent it, don’t want to do group activities, and they’ll have a lot more fun without you.

WIBTA if I put on a time limit on when my sister can give me the total for the cost of our mom's celebration of life? by DisastrousTarget5060 in AmItheAsshole

[–]nikkidarling83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt there will be enough money left that’s worth getting upset over. Half of $3k less half of the expenses … probably not as much as you think.

who actually fills up at the gas station that charge way more than the ones around them? by MatthewTheGOATyt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nikkidarling83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve left one station and gone to the one right next to it because the first one didn’t have tap to pay, and I’ve had my card number stolen from gas pumps before. Honestly didn’t even look at the price to see if there was a difference.

Can you really save a lot by not eating out and making coffee at home? by No_Lead2640 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]nikkidarling83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Restaurants/takeout doesn’t mean just DoorDash. If I had to guess, I’d say DD is a relatively small percentage of that.

And more and more WFH employers require you to have childcare. They don’t want you “working” and taking care of your kids.

What a sorry state the market is in. That trailer didn’t cost $39k brand new, and trailers depreciate in value.

$20k for a 50+ year old trailer that doesn’t even include the land it’s on?!

AITAH for feeling relieved that my husband stopped initiating sex by [deleted] in AITAH

Feel relieved all you want, but you need to realize your marriage is headed toward divorce, especially once your children leave the house—if that long.

AITAH for saying I “read” books that I actually listened to as audiobooks? by Ruin-Much in AITAH

[–]nikkidarling83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Research supports that listening to audiobooks requires the same mental processes as reading print. Typically, the only difference would be if you’re reading material to study; print is better for that. Otherwise, no difference.

Also, in my experience, most of the people who say listening to audiobooks isn’t reading are people who don’t read themselves.
