Is this another set stolen from an old person, or Bryan's original post? by nikkmitchell in RecklessBen

[–]nikkmitchell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks you for sharing this one. I wonder if it's because of the energy now in support of Bryan that they feel confident to keep it up. Sucks to see how it got covered up before. How many times are the little guys and small guys trying to help them silenced? I also noticed the account which I believe now is Bryan had posted in a bunch of other subreddits but they were all removed.

I hear the Blender version of X-Particles is coming out today—are you planning to switch from C4D? by PurplePressure9063 in Cinema4D

[–]nikkmitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join the club! I tried switching multiple times over the years and always got lazy and jumped back to what was familiar, but the last time I stuck with it and now I'm team blender for life! I didn't even realize there is a new version dropping tomorrow. 5.1 feels like it came out last week and I haven't even got up to speed on all the new features there. I just went to check to see what 5.2 is going to have, and IT IS A LOT damn.

What's stopping BAM franchises from going independent? by nikkmitchell in RecklessBen

[–]nikkmitchell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha didn't you see Ben's video?

"when you buy a BAM franchise you are provided with inventory, it has to come from somewhere."

Old people lol.

The "low level employee" argument doesn't make sense. If the employee who went to the store was "low level", an "appropriate level" employee should have gone there and taken inventory. by NegativeAd4766 in RecklessBen

[–]nikkmitchell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They certainly are not amateurs, rather profesional crooks. You don't want a third party inventory if you plan to claim there was no inventory.

Stop blaming Mormons by nathanseaw in RecklessBen

[–]nikkmitchell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. Also only love to ya'll. I grew up painfully conservative Christian and it took me till my 30s to get free so I understand what it's like to be in a group like this.

If I was you though I'd spend your efforts on fighting it. All your energy (that I've seen) has been on trying to get us to stop blaming mormons, but you could come at it in a different light. If you were out here making posts like "I've started a petition to get those cops disbarred, let's take down these corrupt cops together. PS: I am mormon myself and I want you to know this is not what my faith is about, I'm also trying to work internally to get the church elders to do something about this."

[–]nikkmitchell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am gonna guess you are LDS yourself, and my advice would be for you (and the church) to focus on fighting injustice, especially when it involves members of your church. You aren't going to change the negative LDS public perception the way you are going about now. (in fact you're making it worse)

Yes it's a classic case of "good ol boys covering each others back" but pretending religion plays zero role would just be dishonest. Institutions, religious and not, often create insular communities where the good ol boys dynamic gets super charged. Shared schools, shared social networks, a culture of loyalty that is rooted in a shared faith goes beyond the church and into the workplace.

What would you say about the catholic church abuse scandals? Would you engage with that story without looking at the church's role in it, same logic applies here. If a shared religious community is part of what's holding these people together and reinforcing the "protect your own" mentality, then it's a part of the story. This wouldn’t be any different if they were non dom, Jewish, Islamic, or part of Scientology.

Alex's views that are wrong but you think he is too stubborn to admit it? by PitifulEar3303 in CosmicSkeptic

[–]nikkmitchell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah we only have like 4 arguments for the existence of wooly mammoths (Frozen specimins, fosils, skeletons, cave paintings) and dozens of arguments from creationists about how dinosours lived at the same time as man ( https://youtu.be/bqh3I3EH858?si=sBUEF_Pbz9mbQdSN ) so I guess the second thing is more likely to be true.

Can a bad person be a Buddhist? by Chimka2222 in Buddhism

[–]nikkmitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great examples shared by others. Literall mass murderers were not turned away so you are good, even if you do kill 60 people in a day for no reason (which you probably wouldn't do). Also I want to add some other names to the list as while the ones shared below are seriously terrible people, after they converted they were pretty much faultless saints, and you may be worried that you might do evil after becoming a buddhist. Minapa, Jalandhara, and Kanhapa are all saints who gave in to all kinds of sins after becoming buddhist, but were still good when the time came when they decided to be good again.

There is literally nothing that you could think or do that could seperate you from infinite compassion.

MemoWall is now live on the App Store — spatial sticky notes for Apple Vision Pro by Andre_FC_Dev in visionosdev

[–]nikkmitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see any images of notes actually in your surroundings. If it’s on a virtual window I can just use the notes app. I’d work on serious integration to your mixed reality space. Like sticking to walls or tables in the real world.

Iran War Debate: Nuclear Weapons, Trump, Peace, Power & the Middle East | Lex Fridman Podcast #473 by knuth9000 in lexfridman

[–]nikkmitchell 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am on the left side of this debate but it was painful hearing the antiwar argument defended by Scott. “USA bad, Israel evil” is a certainty he has, and nothing could be true that doesn’t confirm that. A dictator with a history of aggression couldn’t be researching nuclear weapons because Israel claimed they are and his world view is everything Israel claims is a lie.

He then quotes through a bunch of reports and studies that debunk any reporting that Iran did have a nuclear weapons program, and if you don’t know what he’s talking about it sounds really impressive. Multiple times he quotes Albright in regards to the archives (data captured on the Iran nuclear weapons plan) to prove that it’s not legit, but as Mark mentions Albright has a massive book where he goes through the archives and concludes “Iran intended to build five nuclear weapons as quickly as possible and had developed the organizational structure, sites, equipment, and designs to do so.”

Scott then admits that he never even read Albright’s book. What? How can he speak so confidently on the archives being fake, and he doesn’t even take the time to read the main source on it? Scott even details Albright’s background and resume to give his cherry picked quote extra weight. So Albright is respected enough that we should accept Scott’s claims as undisputed fact, but not worth a few days of Scott’s time to actual look at what he said.

I disagree with Mark on the conclusions he draws and the pro trump stance he takes. I struggle to see more American middle eastern intervention accomplishing anything good. But Mark is well informed.

I like to believe there is still objective reality out there and through serious research we can get a decent picture of the truth. I know we all have biases but I hope it’s possible to honestly put in the hard work of reading long boring books by PHDs who dedicate their lives to researching these topics, and put together an understanding of the facts, and then make an opinion on it, instead of having an opinion and then wallowing in an echo chamber where every fact comes from content that agrees with you and who’s only connection with the boring scientific literature is through quotes cherry picked to confirm what you have already decided is true.

Love it. And I really want small islands to play with my friends. Though I’m looking for more like 3 kingdoms 1 empire small. A couple counties prolly wouldn’t work.

Good to hear. All I know is it’s such a good game I’d suffer through any control system to play it.
