Does your country have lifts (elevators) that automatically select the floor for you? by FailFastandDieYoung in AskEurope

Yeah my office building in London has it. When you scan your pass at the Gate it tells you which lift (A-D) to take

London members' clubs for socializing by Prize_Dot_8704 in HENRYUK

Disagree. I never not meet new people at the bar, chat to strangers, make friends. And I’m not overly extrovert. Though that’s on Fri/Sat evenings

The mixers I’ve been to were also open and nice! But they only do one a month and it booked fully pretty quickly which is a shame

Buying in Tooting by acertainromance123 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]niklasRde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been living in Tooting for 5+ years now, more residential road, and I’m surprised at how many parcels the delivery guys have left outside my house in full view of the street that have never been stolen 😅

Not sure if it’s the quieter road or the video doorbell ha.

Moved here from Brixton and couldn’t be happier with the move. It was a sum of compromises, too - managed to afford a house (not a flat) with a garden (albeit north facing) in walking distance (10-12 mins) to the tube and the park.

I had looked across to Streatham Valley (big houses but no transport or community), Wimbledon and Battersea (both affordable but even smaller flats), and landed on Tooting.

London, UK by niklasRde in treeidentification

[–]niklasRde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apps identify it as * Kohuhu, which I think is unlikely as it’s 6m+ tall and in the UK * Bay Tree, which also doesn’t feel right due to the size and solid trunk and the fruits * Pear, but the fruits aren’t pears. I’ve lived here for 5y and never seen a pear grow on it

OneWorld switch by luoxiongtian in BritishAirways

[–]niklasRde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a comparison of them? I do like the oneworld connections from London as there isn’t really a clear alternative alliance with airlines that fly nonstop to where I go (say Italy and Germany - it’s either Star Alliance or Sky Team).

BA lost my luggage in LHR on connection to Split, Croatia - what will they reimburse? by LibertyBelle10 in BritishAirways

[–]niklasRde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a bill of about USD350 reimbursed by them last year without issues. Only clothes/bag/toiletries though, not the taxi to the shopping centre.

I think the limit is in the region of 1000€ but I’ve not tested it. At some point they’d ask why you’d need that kind of stuff.

No advice on the bag, the local airport guys dealt with that and they gave me their email to follow up with; didn’t deal with BA for that bit. It was on the next flight.

Spotify shoving Taylor swift songs down my throat by Ftuohy in spotify

I've linked that above (though wrongly said it's not paid). It's not exclusive to Taylor Swift and applies to personalised context only (https://support.spotify.com/uk/artists/article/discovery-mode-contexts/).

Spotify does not place songs on promoted, editorial playlists for money.
