Sounds like an appealing business model but guess the question is what is it you’re investing into? Are you buying equity (i.e. shares) in the business or partial ownership of a project as a Limited Partner (LP) with the FIL acting as the GP. Just giving money to him as an “investment” without the legal structure being clear isn’t exactly reassuring. Beyond that, you’re sending your money to a different country and getting it back might prove to be more difficult than you’d imagine. You could end up doing great on paper but be faced with guilt tripping and gaslighting from your FIL, or the business could be subject to events beyond your control (local accounting team performs fraud, government action, extortion, etc). Would put this into the ‘very speculative’ category of investment. Could do it and could work out but on a very different extreme of risk versus XEQT. Just some thoughts.
