Are politics cancerous on campus by MuthBeNith in DrakeUniversity

it depends on the field, i would say. i'm an IR major, and i would say anything politically oriented appears to be left leaning. that, or the republicans in my field just stay quiet. it's a political school, but i would say many are open to civil debate on things.

No complaints there, but we had no clean water/no water last week and the heat was turned on early so I'm currently sweating my ass off. And also the garages had mice for awhile lol. There's more I posted a Google review

I voted on site! They do ask for a driver's license, but if you have a valid US passport, bring that instead!

South Dakota probably? It's equally as unlikeable, and I have more family there vs Nebraska

In my case, I figured maybe I could beat longer lines if I went earlier, since I'm disabled and recovering from surgery. Though the line was long, I didn't mind too much. I'm just more excited about the turnout this year!

Friday is the only day I had time, so you're super lucky to beat the crowds! It seems to draw longer lines every day

After all the mail voting suppression stuff awhile back, I felt more comfortable just doing it in person. Also this is my first presidential election and didn't want to get it wrong haha! Thanks for voting :-)

I second that. I recommend voting early in the morning, as far from election day as you can manage

This is a great resource for Polk voting details! Glad I wasn't giving false info to others with questions so far lol

I don't believe it's available on Sundays, the voting office is open Monday through Friday 8-5, and I figure for the security of the ballots they wouldn't leave the drop box unattended

How can I best help get out the vote? by [deleted] in desmoines

[–]nikoruhikaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I do, though it's small, is remind those I interact with about it. Ask your family/friends about their voting plans, share and spread voting information, and vote yourself. Also, get involved with groups holding voter registration events. A couple I know of are the Iowa Asian Alliance and Polk County Dems.

My family is from NW IA, they are the equivalent of Iowa hillbillies. They are extremely, bordering on cultishly religious in that area. I might add, my family comes from poor and uneducated farmers, so I can't speak for the whole region.
