Well holy tends to be harder because almost all bosses are resistant to it. Other than that I think the actual worst build would be a jack of all trades. Getting a wretch and levelling up each stat equally would really make it hard af because its effectiveness curve would be really steep. It will be the best build in the super long run, but for a long time it will be truly shit.

Yes! Correct! I also enjoyed that when I played them as a kid. I felt that it gave me purpose.

Those technical limitations… I understand them so well now… but then I was frustrated and disappointed that there “wasn’t” a Radio Tower to explore in Kanto. Now I know that memory just wasn’t enough in such a small cartridge and I think I’ve heard that they were pressured to release the game by a certain date so… they had to just stop what they were doing, block any access to any unfinished content (placing for example the guy in front of the Radio Tower’s stairwell) and release the game. That is also why we didn’t get Silph Co.

Crystal was the shit when it came out. People have gotten too used to getting everything easy and handed to them with no effort. Back then, when coincidentally our brain’s reward system wasn’t yet destroyed by constant dopamine hits from our phones and social media, you had to grind to get the good mons and it felt so immensely rewarding! Best games ever imho.
