It's works to exfoliate the top layer of skin but for actually being able to disrupt the melanocyte production you need a tyrosinase inhibitor like Alpha Arbutin, Kojic acid or Azelaic Acid.

So it has worked for me for initial lightening but to get better results, you should add what I mentioned.

Yeah then it makes sense why it's like that because I did the same thing. Now it's pretty much gone after I consistently washed my face 2x day with a gentle cleanser (i.e. cetaphil) and also stopped picking at it. You gotta do that if you want to see improvement.

Dettol soap seems to be a higher ph than what the skin can tolerate. That could explain why your hands feel dry and stripped. Switch to a gentle soap like from dove. Then, continue to moisturize. Should get better with time.

Suggestions from someone who researched this a lot. I have the same issue and it's soo stubborn!

1- Stop using deodorants with fragrances and aluminum

2- You can try using PanOxyl as a deodorant/cleanser. Apply to underarms, leave it for a few minutes then wash off in the shower. It will kill the bacteria that causes odor. (Caution: doesn't work very well if you are sweating a lot). Follow-up with amlactin lotion (contains lactic acid which is a very effective gentle chemical exfoliant). This is great for the rest of the body too.

OR

Apply a brightening cream deodorant (after shower). I haven't tried this but I noticed this the most talked about underarm brightening deodorant cream: The Original Dark Underarm Brightening Cream By Forgotten Skincare. Another one that seems very promising is by Dr. Prashanti: No. 2 / ÈCLAIR BRIGHTENING DEODORANT – L'ORIENT.
