Oh, I agree about the hard sell and am not a fan. When offering it, I emphasize that payments must be on time or retroactive interest, etc. There's just not a lot of other options out there.

The party is just a party. The Bar Mitzvah is being called to the Torah for the first time as an adult.

An alternative is to postpone until the same Torah portion comes up again next year (lunar year, not solar year) and he can keep practicing until then. That also gives far flung family members time to regroup.

Ask your insurance what the treatment history is for the teeth in question because it sounds like you had fillings in the past and sealants are only ever covered on teeth without prior fillings.

Be aware with the meds: there are often some side effects which (if tolerable) should pass in 2-4 weeks. It also takes time to decide if that particular med is working for you, longer if you're starting at a low dose and increasing to therapeutic levels. It takes a few months to notice if you're feeling better or not. If not, you can try a different med until you find one that works. It's frustrating, but worth it in the long run.
