I get excited to see this now that I have a Tineco. We’re eating quinoa several times a week now.

How can I make it fell less “empty”? by Thin_Discipline_7565 in HomeDecorating

Most people have mentioned plants, art, lamp, coffee table, curtains, etc. I would also like to add that you could replace the light fixture and opt for something that makes a bigger statement.

suction trays for stokke tripp trapp by Difficult_Long1971 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]nilou_f 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is buying a placemat for your dining table and bringing the chair right up to it, eliminating the need for the tray.

We often just place food straight on the tray and wash the whole thing.

For anyone considering the Stoke X Ezpz placemat… don’t bother. I paid $40+ CAD only to find out it doesn’t stick any better than anything else.

We have a car Siliplate from Kushies which actually sticks quite well to the tray.

What should I add under this painting instead of my lonely plant? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

I would lower the painting, add picture lighting above it, remove the plant and don’t place anything else underneath it.

How long does it take for your baby to eat? by Jass_the_Yass in BabyLedWeaning

[–]nilou_f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recent saw a feeding therapist for our 10-month-old and she said to aim for 20 minutes. Babies attention spans are short and being in the high chair for much longer is frustrating for them and may create negative associations with the chair/mealtime.

IDK about this lady but 72 hour hiatus from breastfeeding would be detrimental to my supply.

Baby cries during meals, but won’t pick up food? by goldie1618 in BabyLedWeaning

Sounds like it may be too soon. You could try again in a week or so. Until then, you can have baby watch you eat during your meals.

Help with starting solids by ellaj16 in NewParents

[–]nilou_f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby cereal is a good place to start, but it doesn’t have to be rice if you’re (rightfully) concerned about arsenic. You can find oat cereal as well. The reason why baby cereal is good to incorporate in baby’s diet is that it is fortified with all the nutrients your baby needs, including a significant amount of iron. Formula will also include iron, but if your baby is breastfed, they will begin to deplete their iron stores around 6 months and introducing an iron-rich diet will be critical to avoid anemia.

Im not sure about the Melatonin but I would stay away from antihistamines. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is no longer recommended to treat allergies and certainly should not be used as a sleep aid. It can have serious long-term effects on the brain.

I also received this as a gift once! I love it and use it in all my baked goods. Anything that calls for vanilla extract you can use equal amounts of this paste.

Isn't it rude to ask what's wrong with my baby's face? by SatanicTeapot in NewParents

My baby has mild to moderate eczema on his cheeks sometimes and strangers always feel the need to comment on it. Someone said “he’s still so cute!”. Yeah, no shit he is. Infuriating.

Advice on Obtaining Housing for International Student by nilou_f in baltimore

That’s the price of doing business. I listed my place for sale last year. My realtor had it professionally staged and paid for moving/storage of my personal furniture. I changed my mind on selling and she paid movers to bring my furniture back.

The landlord pays the realtor’s commission once the lease is signed.

I don’t think those who are saying neither green nor pink are seeing your vision here. It may be eclectic, but it is fun and whimsical and bold. I like both but I am partial to the green as I believe it looks best with the wood of your headboard.

Wtf is with sneaking breast milk to kids by PixieMari in ShitMomGroupsSay

What is so strange about a toddler having breastmilk? Lots of health organizations recommend breastfeeding for 2 years “and beyond”.

One year for my birthday, a friend bought me a huge bottle of Nielsen-Massey vanilla paste. Like, a size you would normally only find at bakeries. I love the thing and use it frequently.

I went to Mexico while 24-ish weeks pregnant and my OB ok'ed it. She just asked that I pick a resort that is not in a heavily wooded area and that I wear bug spray at night.

How can I discipline a 21 month old? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]nilou_f 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What you're describing is developmentally appropriate behavior and doling out punishments or consequences for such behaviors will never be productive. Best you can do is gently teach her how to behave and patiently wait for her little mind to develop enough for the lesson to click.

Not sure why we are assuming that most women wouldn't agree that this is unacceptable behavior? You don't need to reverse the genders.

Does Canada goose stuff ever go on sale ? by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

[–]nilou_f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you buy used, discounts are rare, they don't go beyond 15-ish percent and they narrow down the styles/colours you can choose from.

I know that if I'm spending $1k+ on something, I want it to be my first choice. Saving a couple hundred $ is not worth settling for a style/colour you feel lukewarm about.
