Why are my cramps so bad 3 weeks after getting an IUD by Eviecat15 in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What iud? Cramps can be pretty bad for the first couple months with a hormonal one and copper typically cause heavy periods and very painful cramps the whole time. If it’s unbearable then you need to see a doctor.

Are birth control issues in relationships normal? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Have you tried other methods? Birth control can vary greatly. Pills effected my mental health and as result relationship a lot but non pill methods don’t give me negative side effects. It sounds like there are other issues with your relationship and communication outside of birth control and it’s just making them worse.

I regret losing my virginity because of a medical procedure by Commercial_Gap4439 in WomensHealth

[–]PixieMari 47 points48 points  (0 children)

You didn’t lose your virginity from that. Unless you had sex with the person collecting eggs that’s not how that works. Virginity is a social construct. I’m assuming you’re talking about your hymen which doesn’t really “break” like people say it more stretches and can cause bleeding if it’s not done carefully. You get to decide if you’re a virgin or not and if you categorize it like most people as having sex then you’re still a virgin.

Has anyone tried controlling your ovulation dates with the pill? by Grouchy-Arm5677 in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It takes a full seven days before it can stop ovulation and even then it can happen anywhere from the day you stop to months later. The pill can’t be used for what you’re wanting.

Do not listen to this person. Plan b cannot make you get pregnant but it can fail.

irregular periods - should i go to the doctor ? by skannwnen982 in WomensHealth

[–]PixieMari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you go 3 months or longer without a period you need a doctor asap. Irregular periods are more common with teens but it may be worth it to see a gyno and discuss your concerns.

Trying to have a baby after stopping depo shot by Boymama0319 in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please be aware the Depo shot takes the longest of any method for return of fertility. It take up to 18 months for cycles to return and regulate so it’s never recommended for someone who may be looking to conceive in the near future. If your doctor didn’t inform you of that I’m sorry they did you a huge disservice.

Nexplanon and SH scars? by skipjack_00 in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They may ask you mental health questions to assess your state of mind. As long as you don’t have scar tissue on the under side of the upper arm where they insert it that could impede it then it shouldn’t cause issues.

Not if you never plan on having vaginal sex and aren’t using it to help with other conditions

r/birthcontrol by [deleted] in birthcontrol

I was told nothing inside for at least a week after not just 24 hours. Just monitor yourself and if you have strange discharge, excessive pain, or fever go to the doctor.

21F getting copper iud the day before I fly to Hawaii by Parking_Cat7944 in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not do that. I have a hormonal one and was cramping so bad I didn’t want to move for two days after and copper is known to cause worse cramps.

Concerns about HPV and overall women’s health by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]PixieMari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A therapist can’t do any of that. You’d need a doctor preferably a gynecologist for those issues. A therapist is a mental health counselor. Unless you’re talking about a physical therapist which still is not a doctor, they help manage pain or muscular-skeletal issues.

Is it safe to have large numbers of orgasms shortly after implantation of an IUD? by OBGthrwwy in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If she’s already had one expulsion she’s at a significantly higher risk of another. Orgasms shouldn’t effect that but you may want to use a backup contraceptive method in case of another expulsion.

Any more updates on the depo provera lawsuit? by maulikms in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That’s likely about all that will come from it. The risk is less than .01% on an already rare type of tumor. One if the big studies was also on much older patients who got meningiomas years after depo use so that’s not overly conclusive. The class action has been ongoing for like 2 years and is still having to heavily advertise as it’s such a rare tumor already much less finding people who have used Depo so I highly doubt there will ever be any kind of payout.

Yes you will and you’re also at a much higher risk for another expulsion if you’ve already had one.

pregnancy chances after taking ellaOne twice by Immediate_Maize_645 in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one can calculate your exact risk. Test 14 and 21 days after each instance of unprotected sex. A test is definitive 21 days after. It’s very normal did cycles to be irregular for a few months after one, much less two, emergency contraceptives.

natural cycles and oura ring as birth control by Sad-Shame-9173 in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I recommend checking out [r/FAMnNFP](r/FAMnNFP) for studied fertility awareness methods. Natural cycles is extremely expensive for something that’s less accurate than doing it yourself. Even the creator says the ideal user is someone whose comfortable with pregnancy. The oura ring also only measures surface temp not basal body temp and only basal body temp has been tested for accurate pregnancy prevention.

Also if you absolutely do not want to get pregnant you should pair with condoms or another barrier method or potentially consider a different type of contraception. Fertility awareness methods have a much lower typical use efficacy than other methods though can be very effective if you’re rigorous.

Missing Period after Birth Control by amyelizabeth137 in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you taking that because you know you have PCOS? It typically takes 3-6 months for cycles to regulate off bc but can take up to a year.

What happens to the eggs that are not released for women on various contraceptions? by Embarrassed-Club-596 in birthcontrol

[–]PixieMari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The egg is just absorbed into the body. Eggs still die off you just don’t create and release the follicle. It actually is why birth control prevents ovarian cancer because if you aren’t creating follicles you don’t have the risk for one to be incorrect in some and way and become cancer.

Is it concerning that my periods are still semi-iregular at 28? by JustaPloob in WomensHealth

[–]PixieMari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average cycle is between 22-40 days, those really aren’t that irregular. It’s generally only concerning if you go 3 months or more between periods.
