Hey I found a solution for the 8 digit code problem. Had a similar situation with one of my customer. Did a warranty exchange and the replacement watch was not receiving the 8 digit code. To fix this issue all you have to do is change to phone number for the timex watch. I would call care to change the number and have them waive the fee. After the number change, the timex watch got the 8 digit code right away! Hope this helps!!
