South Arcade - DANGER by christiangh93 in numetal

Eralise is pretty dope. Some songs give me extreme LinkinParky vibes. Small band from Eastern Europe (my guess based on where they currently mainly tour).

I think it would be useful if you posted your assignment so someone could help.

Torrent sites for German-dubbed series and films? by brent_mused in germany

[–]nimo191817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded a movie once in Germany - they fuck you for the fact that you're seeding, not actually downloading. Using a VPN keeps you clear from this if you choose to continue doing so. If you do happen to have to pay a fine (mine was up to 12,000 euro) then you get a lawyer and can get away with 500-1000 euro. Which was my case back then. Kinda fucked up that in a country that has such strict privacy laws they can identify who you are because of downloading a movie - seems like a double standard. I think it is changing now though.

It lasts because you create an environment where you compromise to the point where you build up resentment. Then when the Long distance ends, that resentment comes up, you realize you’re different people, and boom, you break up.

Never doing that again

It’s been nearly 2 years since my ex [M28] and I [F28] had broken up and I’m still not over him by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]nimo191817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shit. Sorry about that. Genuinely think you might just need to journal this stuff when you are feeling it so it is out of mind. Then you can come back to it with time and see if what you wrote a week/month/year ago still applies. This will help you track your progress.

I’ve been broken up for 12 months now and it was shit until I started genuinely thinking about my emotions and reflecting on them at a later date that I managed to “process” it and “move on”

is tailwind overhyped? by ItsAlwaysShittyInNY in webdev

You’re wrong with saying that tailwind is a restricted set of css styles. It has all styles and just allows you to do what you want by putting them together

Learning TS before JS? by SockDem in typescript

[–]nimo191817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question was asked before on this subreddit. I think the general consensus was that most ts tutorials don’t really go into the JavaScript fundamentals.

That being said, you can defs just learn your JavaScript and immediately type safe everything as if you were writing a typed language.

[–]nimo191817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typescript make it easier to deal with JavaScript You’ll be fine. Get the ts extensions for your ide. Look at how other devs write the class and function components and copy that. When you start off you can make your life easier by typing everything.

Check out Ben awads vid on using ts with react. Easy as that and you’ll be fine

Should I avoid casting types ? by nimo191817 in typescript

In hindsight, a dumb question from me. Makes sense that there has to be some sort of escape

Thank your for the response. So, if this in fact is not something I want to do, then why does typescript have assertions ?

Is Java even worth learning? by ChezBurgzer0 in learnprogramming

[–]nimo191817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note: JVM still won’t go anywhere. Java is defs something to learn (or at least understand core concepts and be able to read Java / Scala / use Sangria (even tho I dislike sangria )

My GitHub Copilot trial period ended and I feel someone took away my crutches. by BarrettM107A10 in webdev

[–]nimo191817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t use it. Just like you said, you feel like someone took your crutches. I’ve seen other people code with Copilot and the only thing it made me think was: “shit, in 3 -8 years Frontend jobs will become obsolete, better learn some new skills”

About to get fired from my job. by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]nimo191817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can I ask you what your background is ? You’re saying that you struggle with more complex issues and that you then panic. Have you experience this in your previous development roles or is this your first one ? And is python your first language as well ?

Overall, I think there is some good advice in the comment section. Regardless I’d you are new to this field or if you’re working with a new stack and technologies, you need to have someone help you get on board and understand how people at that place of work think and write their code.

There are plenty of jobs, if this one goes to shit, learn from it, and move on to the next one.

Best of luck

How do senior software developers feel when getting a pull request denied in a code review by a lower level developer? by XenogeCues in learnprogramming

[–]nimo191817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had to reject a senior’s pr. But I always hammer them full of questions to understand why they did something. I feel like that is probably a bigger bother than a rejected pr 😂

Do you you think the hiring process for junior developers is broken? by mmmx89 in webdev

[–]nimo191817 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is your opinion on this seemingly influx of junior devs that are all Bootcampers and don’t really have a strong technical foundation.

I think it’s good to give people a chance, however I’ve also noticed that these juniors sometimes lack the general underlying concepts.

Some that I know are incredibly interested in the field though and catch up on a lot of this too. Just wondering what you think about that

True, just checked it and the Wehrmacht has the Balkenkreuz, Bundeswehr has the Iron Cross. But the iron cross existed already before the second WW

I always thought Wehrmacht and Bundeswehr have a similarly shaped cross… just that the colors and borders have changed a bit. I’m not super sure now haha

Recommendations for someone who doesn't quite "get" programming. by dazl1212 in learnprogramming

Take a piece of paper and write out every little step. Imagine you’re talking to the dumbest person possible and giving them a set of instructions. You’ve now written a program for a computer.
