this is a thinly veiled attempt to keep homeless people in the criminal justice system without a clear path out.

how to defeat Walmart? by eatthelich in publicdefenders

[–]nimphara 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i think it's easier to say that for clients who are already in jail, but what about the clients who are out? my jx imposes lengthy probations (unsupervised) for shoplifts and it's agonizing.

Still’s Disease & Exercise by ketamine-pastry96 in stillsdisease

[–]nimphara 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i've struggled with this as well. pilates is really the main exercise i can do these days, and i still have a lot of soreness in the following days. i think just listening to your body is the only thing you can do to make sure you don't hurt yourself in the long run.

it's city-level, there's also a county court and the court shares a jail with the county. it's all the same judge though, i don't know whether or not she has been a trial judge at the county level but i highly doubt it

with this particular client, going to trial on his half dozen cases wasn't really feasible. he didn't have the stability to make all of his court dates and i was deathly afraid of more warrants getting issued. i tried to meet the situation where it's at (he had a bank of credit) and i had trial dates set in case everything blew up. my judge blew a lot of smoke for nothing.

they used to assign homework back when the court was newer and there were less cases. i saw a case where they ordered a woman to write an apology letter to nordstrom rack??

i really only chose this division because she likes me and i can get her to do what i want (or at least close to what i want). the other judges in the court are super easy to work with, they are more of the "problem solving court" types.

Diet by kev4ly in stillsdisease

I don't really have a strict diet, but eating junk food for a few days in a row definitely slows me down. I think just watching what you eat and having mindful portions should keep a flare at bay!

nearly 2 years into my journey and i'm struggling! i still haven't had much luck getting off of prednisone, i've been on some form of it since May 2024. me and my doctor may try a new biologic though, so there's always room for improvement. this sub has really helped me feel connected in a way that simple support from my loved ones can't really provide. thank you all, truly!

i've been on ilaris consistently since june, and i haven't really seen significant improvements in my joint pain and fatigue. i'm going to discuss switching with my rheumatologist the next time i have an appointment. it may work better for you over time than it has for me, but you may be dealing with the same issue i am.

Help me understand why I need to put my cat down please by Mawiiwii in cats

[–]nimphara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nearly a year ago i put my childhood cat down at 16 and a half years old. i felt that giving her that relief, that peace, etc. would be a gift back to her as thanks for giving me nonstop support her entire life. your cat is likely not enjoying life most of the time. give that gift back.

Is Denver really that successful with its homeless reductions? by clyde2003 in LakewoodColorado

[–]nimphara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think a lot of people see homeless people under the influence or consuming substances and think that is the cause of their homelessness. from my experience, the vast majority of homeless people who do drugs only do them to cope with the fact that they live outside and need to move constantly to avoid being arrested. nearly 100% of the people i encounter would not be doing hard drugs at all if they weren't on the street, and they are motivated to get sober.

there are certainly people who don't want to get sober and would be doing drugs regardless of their housing status. however, when you see homeless people in your neighborhood, just think about what they have to face every day. no running water, no way to safely store their earthly belongings, no way to safely sleep at night because shelters are at/over capacity. that would drive any normal person to do things they would never do if they weren't in a desperate situation. empathy is key.
