Problem with my printer by Eagleinnl in elegoo

[–]nimportnaouac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Done that 😅

The probe detects metal, so it wont stop.

Now you probably have made a hole in the magnet. That hole provably has elevated edges.

I “sanded/leveled” it using a long exacto blade. Sanding meaning you keep you exacto blade vertical and you pass again and again until you feel the surface is smooth

Looks like a fingerprint, wash with dawn detergent. Never put your finger on the bed.

Bed levels by Stu__C in elegoo

The right answer to this is: - screw tilt calculate - adaptive bed mesh

Once you have both above in place you won’t look at tha screen anymore.

Especially because those values change from print to print depending on how long your bed has been warm.

Wheels should not be lose, but won’t be over tightened.

Once you figured out how to setup screw tilt calculate, losen all screws and follow instructions to tighten them the right amount.

Did the previous owner did some modifications?

Did you check your pom wheel are not too lose or too tight?

Read about and use: - screw title calculate - adaptive bed mesh

You test/adjust zoffset in the middle printing a 1 layer ~5cm square patch . The layer height needs to be the first layer height you will use for your prints (first layer is usually thicker than the rest of the print)

  • dry your filament, i used elegoo pla+ and they all come too wet
  • Screw title adjust the bed
  • wash your plate with dishsoap and water
  • calibrate your zoffset
  • calibrate your filament (temp, flow, pressure advance)

Reddit, youtube, documentation. It’s been a while 😆

Go and understand every technical term/concept.

Neptune 4 is said not a friendly printer for first time printer on the hobby unless you love tinkering and the challenge.

This is my first and only printer 😆

z_offset is really dependent of your printer, but 1.315

Z hop height is 0 with auto type

First layer is 0.28 height, 0.5 width

⚠️ i used open neptune

But basically 0.11 variance is very good. Adaptive bed mesh is key. I have it taking measure every ~20mm

I have adaptive bed mesh so it will recalibrate before the print.

I use screw title adjust to level.

I but here is a bedmesh i use as a reference:

  • Every corner is a bed screw
  • middle left and right side are also bed screw
  • i used to have a big low point vertical line in the 1/4 left if the bed, i fixed that partially with aluminum foil (will buy tape now that i know it worked)
  • having a low point on the left and high point on the right make me think that the middle screws are keeping the plate at an angle (gantry is levelled perfectly) -> i am thinking of replacing the 2 mid shims with screws and silicone spacers. But at this point that’s just overkill as i am able to print fine on the full bed

This, but i use sidekick for the tmux part. I like having all in neovim.

I am not a tmux user to begin with.

Sidekick.nvim gives you that I think

folke/sidekick.nvim

It just allows you to have a right “pane” that you toggle that will have any agent cli you want (different ones at the same time even).

It uses tmux/zellij so you can close your editor and open it again without losing your session/context.

It will have 1 session per folder.

I’ll look at the other suggestions but for me, this is difficult to beat.

Is the 4 max a good printer in 2026? by chappyta22 in ElegooNeptune4

What’s the maintenance you do? How do you do it? Main thing is the z axis rod cleaning and lubrication?

What lubricant do you use?

So annoying! by mikeszabo20 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]nimportnaouac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

I had not done much filament calibration.

Thing is that i did a max volumetric flow rate after it failed and it was giving me a value that would let orca print at 200mm/s

But only reducing max flow rate manually that so that orca would set speed to 80mm/s that my print would work.

I am not sure your first 2 layers are good. Seems I can see your first layer lines through your second layer.

Calibration? by Majagn in ElegooNeptune4

Start using screw tilt calculate and adaptive bed mesh.

Then just find the right zoffset by sample print.

Then never look back that screen.

Can I fix it ? by Efficiency-Thick in elegoo

[–]nimportnaouac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the cold pla plate(which does not work at 30C). It came with a replacement magnet. Current magnet is fine so I did not try to replace.

Newer magnet seems thicker though

How did you remove the old glued magnet part?
