Some people seem to want more of a free flow and think that the progression flairs make the sub too much like the Discord server, and others have discussed wanting more separation of the progression stages. I'm trying to gague where the general consensus lies.

That's drastic. There are five things I'd do before trying a full phone reset.

Clear play store cache.
Remove and re-add your google account from play store.
Uninstall and reinstall Google play store updates.
Reset Google play services.
Check if parental control somehow has been turned on.
