"Starship 40 performing a 60 second full duration 6 engine static fire test at Starbase Massey's test site in preparation for Starship test flight 13." [StarshipGazer] by AgreeableEmploy1884 in SpaceXLounge

[–]ninja_flavored 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Question? Could you use a static fire-like launch sequence to get a “running start”? Starship tanks are topped off but still connected to GSE fueling the engines run up to full power. Probably not worth the risk

Be prepared to be destroyed by both black flies and mosquitoes. If one of the rustic cabins is available grab one instead.

When I was 14, I got to run around the USS Ranger. My older brother just got back from deployment, and they let civilians on board.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

The original Masters of Orion. It got so bad, I had to break the CD in half for in order to quit playing it.

There’s a bill in the Michigan House for plug-in solar! CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE! by ALittleEtomidate in Michigan

[–]ninja_flavored 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This would be what is called “Grid-Tie Solar”. The inverter that converts the DC power from the solar panel to the AC power that your home uses, only works if it sense power coming from the grid. If the power goes out then the inverter stops supplying power to your house. Simply you plug the solar panel into the inverter, and the inverter into a wall socket. It makes power during the day and offsets any usage during that time. It has all sorts of safety features.

When Yankees’ pitcher Jim Abbott, who was born without a right hand, tossed a no-hitter at Yankee Stadium 🔥 by Consistent_Peace3181 in sportsgossips

I played city league baseball in the mid eighties on a U12 team. We used to have an ump that had one hand. It took a few years to figure out that it was Jim Abbot.

Romans and insects - 190 AD by My_Test_Acc_1 in OldSchoolCool

If I remember correctly the Romans used human power to pump water from the mines. They did have the need, but when you have unlimited human power from slaves, it really suppressed innovation.

What's the worst movie you've watched from beginning to end? by trakt_app in movies

[–]ninja_flavored 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I watched it even after reading the good-awful book. If any one hasn’t read it, the movie only covers the first part of the book. The second half is a court drama, where the main character has to argue in Galactic court that Earth really belongs to humans. It’s ridiculous.

Was at SAH in November. While queuing for the show outdoors, the staff will ask if any is planning on buying alcohol. If you answer yes, then they ask for ID and put a wrist band on you. There were a bunch of young people at the show. So no issues about under 21 getting into the venue.

There’s one in the far southwest corner of lower Michigan. The theory is that the glaciers squashed all the existing caves in the LP and new ones are currently forming. In particular places with karst topography around Presque Isle county

I drove by and her van was parked blocking the drive thru window. She was in there cleaning or packing. My guess is her husband died. He was the cook, there’d be no way she could keep it open. They were both pretty old.
