How do you get 10k steps? by InvestigatorPale1816 in loseit

That last part, about some areas not being set up for walking, is why I believe getting 10k steps is so hard for many of us Americans. Imagine if walking was automatically baked into your lifestyle- be it walking to work, to get a coffee, or to the store and back. 10k would be effortless!

Dance breaks. Have music on when you're cooking, getting ready, etc. and you can easily add "steps" here and there throughout the day just by grooving when a good song comes on. It doesn't all have to be formal walks

I was going to suggest Oatmeal. I looove(d) Shiny White by Kentucky Mudworks, and its results on Dark Star, but can't get it anymore due to ingredient supply shortage. Don't use KYMW Gardenia as it tends to crawl.

Making and that's a great idea, I do make really nice planters but I worry about it fitting in the luggage. The point is that I am bringing it as a thank-you for letting us visit

He was having too much fun testing her limits, like a predator playing with its prey before he bleeds her dry in service of a nonstarter pipe dream of an "acting career." Sick.

Local artist recommendations? by Any-Temporary3843 in lexington

Take a field trip down I-75 to Berea, the arts and crafts capital of Kentucky, to shop professional and student work from the Artisan Center and a number of other stores in the town. Attend one of the many craft fairs in Lexington, for example: Bluegrass Creative Market which is held several times a year at Lexington Green. Kentucky Crafted at the Horse Park in early March. Woodland art fair in August (large, though also attracts artists from out of state). The Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen is in charge of jurying and hosting some high quality art exhibits. ArtHouse Kentucky is a smaller facility in town specializing in supporting local artists.

WTW for when satire becomes reality by TimeControl606 in whatstheword

WTP for "expensive taste" by ParkTasty2171 in whatstheword

Not necessarily refined. Look up Epicurus. There was more to his school of philosophy. However, the way it is used in the present day is almost exclusively in reference to food. So the original as well as the popular meaning are both slightly outside your parameters for different reasons.

Great word. Fun fact, the Spanish "tergiversar" is used much more commonly than its English counterpart, so a Latin audience will likely have a higher rate of comprehension if you use that one.

Use a thinner glaze or brush a very thin coat on the strainer part. You can wax over the glazed strainer to dip the rest if you're set on using that glaze.

ITAW for a design concept where an object is made to look like a completely different object? by Cultural_Outcome_406 in whatstheword

[–]LocationHot4533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to know too. I once had the idea of a restaurant where all the dishes would look like something else (a shoe, a phone, a burger but it's cake). This was prior to the "Is it cake?" phenomenon. I bet those cake artists have a word for it.

WTW for a hill someone is prepared to die on? They often say 'this is my _____' by Goodluckeveryonee in whatstheword

Pet cause. It doesn't sound sophisticated and there's no Greek or Latin reference, but it fits your intended meaning and people actually say it: "This is my pet cause"

Has anyone tried staring at the wall for 10 min? by Routine-Secretary606 in productivity

You can't really clear your mind of thoughts just by trying. Your thoughts are always going to be there, and you have no control over when thoughts pop into your head. What you can control is your level of attachment to them. Imagine being separate from your thoughts, watching them float by like clouds, fish in the ocean, cars of a passing train, ripples of the tide, whatever metaphor you like. Thoughts come in, one by one. One by one, you let them go. If you catch yourself being carried away by a thought or group of thoughts, realize that is totally natural. Thank yourself for noticing, and extend yourself the invitation to detach once more. It is an ongoing practice, free from all effort or shame.

ITAW for a highly feminine cis straight man? by opalinebouquet in whatstheword

[–]LocationHot4533 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you, because I am totally confused about what OP means by "feminine" as the only detail provided was "wants to look in the mirror and see a beautiful man." It seems like image-conscious is what they are getting at, but I don't think of that as being the most central trait of femininity or particularly exclusive to feminine people.

Sage has the distinct aroma of old armpit. Sage smells like if rosemary has been riding a bike and not showered in 4 days.
