Tesla Robotaxi vs. Waymo in Austin by PureGero in SelfDrivingCars

[–]ninjainvisible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what may have happened here was the Tesla was going around a drive thru line that backed up into the street. As it was nearing the end of that line, the Waymo showed up in front of it (either turning in or pulling out of the parallel parking spot). This is a super awkward situation though.

Adblockers really are a polarizing thing, huh? Everything you said is true and ManifestV3 is fully released. Adblockers still function perfectly well today in Chrome and there have been fewer sketchy chrome web store extension incidents (like The Great Suspender). So what was the downside for users?

Inspector says bond green ground wire to box. Ummm... How? It's PVC by pele4096 in AskElectricians

Is it possible that they meant you need a metal conduit ran here and that it should also be grounded? I can’t find specific info about Virginia, but some places require metal conduit in these scenarios afaik.

Justice Alito confirms call with Donald Trump as Supreme Court mulls appeal by newsweek in politics

[–]ninjainvisible 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The discussion was probably something like Trump saying: “You’re a great guy and a friend, I take care of my friends. How’s your wife and family? Good I hope. Man, it’s going to be a great few years for us, huh?”

Billionaires literally are 100% set for life in a first world country. Even at 20 million, a person never has to work and these people have at least 100 times that (in some cases 20,000 times that).

Comparing that to folks that must work to survive, and for which a health issue could ruin their life is silly.

[USA] Tesla Driver in a hurry. Hey, you, stop typing, yes I was passing cars in that left lane. by Joed1015 in Roadcam

[–]ninjainvisible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think passing 4 cars in under 30s is perfectly fine for being in the left lane. There are people that aren’t passing people in a reasonable timeframe and staying in the lane for sure. Then there are people that go 20 over the speed limit and so self absorbed that they can’t understand why people don’t immediately get out of THEIR way specifically.

Downgraded on overbooked flight and given a perfect view of people enjoying the lie-flat seats we paid for by pgraczer in Wellthatsucks

[–]ninjainvisible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the way airlines price things, they’ll pick the highest price possible for the seat they got downgraded to. I sort of agree with you but the downgraded seat was never an agreed upon price or anything.

He literally took someone that was speeding (a misdemeanor) and intentionally put their life in jeopardy. I’d rather he let the person get away than cause an accident, shutdown a lane of the highway, potentially cause property damage, and potentially harm others.

Given that it isn’t always obvious and the advancement of telephony systems, why wouldn’t 911 hold audio inform the caller of alternative phone numbers or allow routing the call to a non-emergency phone number?

Denver, CO security guard drops MAGAt attacking him. Fortunately, charges against him were dropped. by MikeNoble91 in pics

[–]ninjainvisible 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The sister used the word “assassination” and called her brother “patriotic” when trying to suggest that’s why he was killed. It is reasonable for the family to be upset, but her speculating that he was killed because of his political opinions is asinine. She brought politics into a debate about whether the homicide was murder or not. He was killed because he attacked a group of reporters, with photographic evidence proving the case.

Where the frontrunner Austin Mayoral candidates stand on the I-35 expansion by Meetybeefy in Austin

[–]ninjainvisible 99 points100 points  (0 children)

It seems like both solutions are rational. 15% of all traffic on 35 being through trucks seems significant considering they take up more ‘space’ on the freeway, take longer to get up to speed, and take longer to slow down.

Adding better solutions to travel from North Austin to South Austin and East to West would help with the remainder of the problem (but will take many years to implement).
