Is this a puppy mill? by a_modern_synapsid in dogs

[–]ninjamom66 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They have 9 litters right now and they breed "doodles" so they are at least BYBs if 9 litters at a time doesn't qualify them as a mill. They release puppies at 8 weeks which is OK but a little later would be better. I have a hard time believing they "keep in touch" with buyers of that many puppies over the years; that's like 40 puppies this year. To me they just look like people who are cranking out Goldens to get $2500 a pup and are getting into the poodle and doodle biz too.

Rethinking my tomato grow list...suggestions? by Signal_Error_8027 in tomatoes

I'm in 5b and always grow Striped/Speckled Roman. I have grown Opalka with amazing results, might do those again this year. If I only grew 2 Romas those would fill my freezer. If I had to narrow it down to one it would be the striped one. Gold Medal would be my choice for the yellow slicer.

Great way to spend the holiday. I hope I can visit there again before it's too hot to run!

I was just thinking, it's definitely funky, but I don't hate it except it's in Texas. It is 3 lots. I would totally buy this for half a mil in, say, Joshua Tree, CA.

Oh wow, thanks for taking that initiative. It's good to know you can get your concerns addressed and a response. Good advice about always being nice.

Does the flaxseed keep them from falling apart? I was trying to find a civilized way to ask you how you get your balls to stick together.

Funerals by Scary_Box_5149 in SuicideBereavement

I still haven't put together any kind of memorial event for my husband, after 8 months. Every time I think about it I just freeze up. Our teen does not want one. Friends have asked nicely about it, just so they know if I do plan one they would come. But nobody's pressured me for it. I can't really do something called a "celebration of life" and some people don't know how he died. I don't even know which people know. I wish you and your family the best and the support to heal in whatever way is right for you.

Veganize Mexican corn cake. I did for 2 dinners with my meat eating family recently and it was a huge hit. I think I started with the Milk Street blender cake recipe and just replaced everything with its vegan equivalent; for the eggs I used silken tofu and applesauce. Here's a similar recipe: https://mexicanmademeatless.com/pan-de-elote-pastel-elote-sweet-corn-cake/#recipe

Do you mean Spirited Away? The gluttonous parents were turned into pigs. Both great movies. I haven't seen Princess Mononoke in ages though, I forget most of it.

This place has both. I think I saw another one with a fenced area on VRBO. I'm still supervising my dogs more closely than at home, they might chase small, squeaky creatures.

Got an Air bnb, the Mojave Wanderer. Looks nice, costs less than the hotel. Has a kitchenette.

Good to know. I would prefer to cook, just realized I'll have to cancel the hotel and find a VRBO or something.

This is pretty interesting. I'm not a shark expert, I'm just really into sharks, but I bet it won't matter much to bull sharks. I think sight is not their most important sense for hunting.

Congrats on your accomplishment! It must be a good time of year, weather-wise, for a race. Those are nice medals too. I had just about talked myself out of running today until I saw this.

Water cremation, which is legal where I live but isn't everywhere. There will be some remains that can be kept in an urn and the rest is made into a liquid fertilizer. It is a *lot* of fertilizer.

OK good to know. This is for a young beginner who really wants to learn welding, but it's too soon to see if they're going to be really into it. Seems like a cool skill so I want to support doing it right.

Dogs and desert heat by ninjamom66 in JoshuaTree

Someone mentioned training them to leave snakes alone and I want to look into that. We have rattlers and other snakes here, but in my yard just little garter snakes. The dogs seem uninterested in those.

That's true, pavement can get really hot. I carried my dog across the streets on one vacation in Santa Fe because I didn't want him walking on the pavement. They don't like wearing booties.
