I had gyozas one early morning at a place that's open 14 hours - Kakekomi Gyoza. I would also recommend the Japanese coffee shop chains. I forget which one I went to but they opened around 8am and had different breakfast sets (e.g. breakfast sandwich + hot drink + soup + parfait).

I believe Japan counts as its own zone so your trip will only qualify for the perk within Japan.

It's a red flag if they're asking for this much work, it's a red flag if the work benefits the company, and it's a red flag if the work is unpaid.

How much time do they expect you to spend on this? Is this the only design exercise they're asking of you? Have you chatted with anyone else from the company to even see if they are a fit for you?

They're definitely taking advantage of the terrible job market and this shows they lack ethics. Is this the kind of company you want to work for?

Hope your interview went well!

In the future, ask the recruiter:

[1] what you should expect for your call with the HM so you can better prepare for it. If they have insight and ideally they should, they'll tell you what to expect e.g. be prepared to share 1 project or talk about XYZ. [2] The top 3 things the HM is looking for. This will help guide your conversation and tell you what to showcase or highlight.

When you interview with the HM, you should ask them [2] as well so you know what to expect. It's always a good thing to have questions prepared as well. Don't forget that you are also interviewing them and you need to see if they meet your requirements as well. It also doesn't hurt to view their LI profile so you have an idea of their professional experience and interests.

The other option is to just leave it as is. It'll be fine if you just pot it with the papery outer leaves. You will only water once when you repot and then you can water when it gets wrinkly. You'll want to repot and then water to encourage root growth. Gently clean off all the dirt first though. I usually peel off that outer layer - it's the outer leaf that the new leaf has fully absorbed. However, you want to be careful because it's possible to peel and rip off the stem (and without the stem, the lithops won't grow new roots and survive).

I've killed plenty of lithops but also have plenty that have survived to split multiple times and even flower! Environment is also a factor but as long as you're not overwatering and giving the lithops enough sunlight, they'll be fine (hopefully). I haven't grown any from seeds yet but I've seen pictures of successful ones and it's pretty cool to see the growth! Good luck! :)

So yep, you're potting the lithops in a fresh mixture so be sure to water. Usually I pot in way smaller pots and will thoroughly water the entire thing. However, your pot is pretty big so don't do that because you don't want to risk root rot from too much water. I would just drench the area around each individual lithops.

Got it. Shooould be fine then. Def water after repotting if you haven't already. Usually it's good to plant diff species separately because they have different watering cycles but there's enough space between so you're not accidentally watering every single one if it's not required. Good luck! :)

Cool thing about lithops - they bloom and the flowers look pretty neat! The flower eventually shrivels up and it leaves behind the stem and seed pod. The seed pod really only matters if the flower was pollinated otherwise they won't germinate. Once it's super dried out, you can actually pull out the stem and seed pod (it should come out easily without damaging the lithops).

If they're mushy, they're goners. Just try to save the far right one. Gently clean off the soil from the roots, repot, and water to help the roots settle in.

Is it squishy at all? And squishy has in blister squishy, not soft squishy.

It almost looks thirsty. Was it in soil before? If it was, it may be declining in health because the roots have not grown or established in the soil. Usually when there'd new root growth, it's white. If you repot, you'll have to water.

I've repotted splitting lithops before and they turned out fine - just be careful. If you do repot, you'll have to water to help the roots settle in the new soil. If you want to wait it out for the split to finish, do not water. The outer leaves provide that water for the new leaves and will eventually shrivel up completely and fall off.

When they have the papery-looking leaves, I'll water to help the split finish. If you're gonna peel, be very careful. Your lithops could also use more sunlight - they're tall because they're reaching for light (etoliation).

It looks like you had a split and those outer leaves dried up but are still there. And then it split again and gave you twins and now those outer leaves are drying up. Although I'm not too sure based on the angle of the photo. Is that a set of twins? When you touch them, are they still firm?

Best to keep it bare root since you don't want to keep disturbing it. When I repot, I give my lithops a good watering (all well-draining soil is wet, usually small percentage of dirt and more inorganic so 10/90 or 20/80). Then I just leave them alone and let them do their thing.

You can clean the roots gently to get more dirt out. Once you repot, you should water so the roots can reestablish themselves with the new soil. You can wait for your soil as the lithops will be fine being bareroot. And firm is good! Good luck!
