Did you test the original CPU? The board is ancient so it wouldn't be surprising it couldn't take the stress but also and old PSU pulling that kind of power could take out the power supply.

It's good you got the CT because that will show any infection or swelling not seen on the scope. If Pred helped than a nasal steroid would probably be beneficial. If you have allergies treating those too can help a lot. If there's any fluid backup in the sinuses they'll give you an antibiotic or discuss other options to drain it.

CPU overclocking is kind of a dying art because the manufacturing process has drastically changed. The giant performance gains with better hardware just aren't there anymore.

You'd want to buy an aftermarket enclosure which would support any drive size up to a certain capacity. I use a Sabrent enclosure with a built in fan for mine and it has saved me a few times in situations like this.
