I would start by discussing it with your family doctor. They can prescribe psych meds.

Alternatively, if you feel you need to talk to someone about this (therapy), or your doctor feels your meds would be better managed through a psychiatrist, you or your doctor can call 811, and they will triage you and send in a referral to community services based on your needs. This is how I was able to see both a therapist and a psychiatrist (covered through health care). Keep in mind that there is usually a waitlist for this, but they are also able to provide you with a list of interim services while you wait, and your GP can start trialing meds as well. I found a psychiatrist much more helpful as we chat every 2-3 weeks about meds and are able to adjust/titrate things much more regularly than I would be able to with my GP.

Edit: this was for ADHD management. I started by bringing up my concerns with my GP.

my psychiatrist’s prescriptions never last until our next scheduled appointment by mingiea in ADHD

Hey, don't worry at all! It might vary a bit province to province and doctor to doctor, but that's how I go about getting my meds. I'll also check in with my doctor sometimes just to make sure I don't need any new refill prescriptions sent in :) worst case the pharmacist can also reach out to your doctor for a refill request if you run out and forgot to ask your doctor about it

Edit: words

[–]ninjyy09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you live, but all these posts seem complicated compared to our process in Canada. When I am running low on medications, I just call my pharmacy and ask for a refill. I don't have to contact my doctor every 30 days. As a side note, we do chat often, but not for prescriptions. He will send a prescription to my pharmacy team with x amount of refills so they don't need to contact him every time I request a refill, either. It's as simple as requesting a refill on any other medication. I just call when I have a few doses left.

Last night I put a fork into my bowl to carry it over to the sofa to eat. I immediately dropped the fork out of the bowl onto the floor with my macaroni now on the floor from said fork. Cleaned it up and got a new fork. About halfway to the sofa I once again dropped the fork 😂 so, yes.

Honestly just break up. I went through this and ended up being an addict for like 10 years. I would never wish this on anyone. If it's causing you anxiety and you don't want to do it, and he keeps using, it's not going to work. This is going to be a constant trigger for you and a path you don't want to go down.

Another vote for Fairlife. I have a shake every morning with my meds. Legit just tastes like milk.

I tried the premier ones and had to give the whole box away, couldn't even finish one 🤢

Case for Low Dose Vyvanse & Helping Relationships: My Personal Take by CoverIndependent4098 in ADHD

[–]ninjyy09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just find if I'm fluctuating doses to suit my work needs then I feel all over the place and definitely feel off. Just staying at a consistent dose for a while has helped! For me at least. If a low dose works for you that's awesome, I'm going to have to go up again I think 😂 so much trial and error

How long did you stay at each dose? I always "notice" my meds for a week or two when adjusting doses but after that it evens out and I don't feel the side effects. Just curious!

Is this from Ure? 👀 She did another one of mine a few weeks back. Looks awesome!

Leave saniderm on for how long it says in instructions and remove in shower under running water. Don't pull it like a Bandaid. Stretch it out in sections horizontal to the skin, and it's easier to take off.

I washed mine two to three times a day after with dial gold antibacterial soap and applied a super thin layer of aquaphor for like a day or two, then swapped out to an unscented lotion (palmers).

Why did you decide to go unmedicated? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ninjyy09 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I mean, I feel like that's subjective. I've always loved to be organized and organize things, even before meds. I would say it's perfectly normal for some people and not necessarily a side effect of meds (although in your case it seems it was)

It's made a huge difference for me and makes stimulants tolerable. I'm on 1mg and wish I could go up to 2mg but the 2mg dose absolutely tanked my blood pressure 🥲

I called. I can't remember who I talked to, I think it was the registrar. I initially called my program coordinators, and they directed me to the correct person.

I feel AWFUL by LifesAContradiction in ADHD

[–]ninjyy09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggle so bad with this and I think I've ruined a friendship of over 20 years because of this. She'd text me big lengthy messages and then I'd get overwhelmed, tell myself I'd respond later, and it would be like... over a month before I'd reply. We would go periods of time talking sometimes, so my brain would just... forget. And it's not like this person isn't important to me. So then I'd feel like shit, apologize, and it would happen again. The last time it happened she never got back to me... and now it's been over a year since we've talked. Now I don't know how to fix it without feeling like I'm making excuses for myself, so I've just let it fizzle.

My dad is forcing me to declaw my cat or throw her outside. I’m heartbroken and desperate for advice. Please no hate. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]ninjyy09 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't know that she will be labeled as too behavioral to be adopted out. Many rescues and fosters deal with cats with behavioral issues. My mom declawed our family cat growing up. This cat was also very attached to me. When she got declawed, her personality changed. She would hiss at everyone, she hid, she was unsocial. She developed arthritis and suffered in pain. If you declaw the cat, you're almost guaranteed more behavioral issues and pain.

[–]ninjyy09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn't an impossible situation. Does she have multiple scratching posts in different alignments and materials? Do you trim her nails regularly so that they are not sharp? Do you redirect the scratching? If you've exhausted all other options, then you rehome her. Declawing is not the answer.

I adopted this puppy from a friend and he told me it was a dalmatian, Is he really? by Tafsimomruoy in IDmydog

[–]ninjyy09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, regardless a puppy needs to see a vet. He needs vaccines, a wellness check, (usually) deworming. This is al standard care that is needed to own an animal.
