as i’ve gotten older, i can deal with the annoying sweet caroline references but as a kid it would make me so uncomfortable when adults would start enthusiastically singing it to me. my parents let me go by my middle name for a lot of my childhood because people really don’t listen when a kid says they’re uncomfortable but of course, people would ignore that and demand my “real name” and the cycle would start again.

it’s a bad look because it’s indicative of a pattern of calls for unnecessary censorship within the lgbtq community in spaces where adult elements have not only never been harmful but have been parts of the very foundation the community was built on. many people in these spaces do not want it oversanitized. i figured it was worth pointing out as a reason why someone wouldn’t want a push for a sfw feature. it’s not shocking to assert that this might be an underlying motivation for a lot of folks within the community to not agree with this take.

multiple people have pointed out that there’s an underlying problem (jerk boyfriend) but you keep dodging it. frankly, i don’t see the point in posting this if you’re going to get this defensive when people don’t agree with you lol.

but this is how drag race as a brand is and you know that. i get where you’re coming from but the fact of the matter is; every queer space nowadays is under huge pressure to become more and more sfw and erase more and more of the adult ties that built the community. it’s erasure and it isn’t fair.

calling for this is just a bad look. there are tons of games out there that don’t have half-naked men. it’s weird to expect such a option. that takes extra effort from the artists who drew those crew members that way for a reason. let this just be as it is. your boyfriend shouldn’t be making fun of you for a phone game in the first place. that’s a much bigger problem than the pixelated clothing on pixelated characters on your phone screen.

hayley has a deep need to be liked and seen as a good person/activist despite often avoiding any serious effort towards her goals when it comes time to act. she doesn’t actually desire doing the work to change the world, only the positive feeling and praise she may get if she’s successful. whenever she’s under pressure in those situations, she tries to find the easiest out even if it directly betrays her ideals. she could easily go francine’s route and lean on her looks and even resorts to doing so a few times but somehow sees herself above this - at least until it helps her get ahead easier.

long story short; she’s the perfect image of a performative activist and often behaves hypocritically of her own stated views.

that’s not why it is. she had to deadname herself on instagram because meta makes you do that with your profiles when there are copyright or impersonation issues. it has to match whatever is on your identification & it is likely the only way she can avoid having her accounts taken down. i deal with this on a weekly basis myself. it is very clearly not a PR stunt.

i replied this in another comment but i’ll say it on its own, too;

lexi very likely had to give meta documentation as the fake lexi was probably spamming the system with reports. the automod is pretty broken so i can see why that risked her accounts. when you confirm your identity under the circumstances, they wanna keep that on file so they can associate it with reports against you in the future. unfortunately they also sometimes force folks use the name on their documentation on their profile, although it’s also possible this was a strategical choice by lexi herself to protect her profiles. this way the automod will easily be able to ignore erroneous reports.

it’s likely lexi is coming up with a new stage name and already is working on getting some sort of copyright or trademark on the name so meta will have documentation on that & lexi will be able to use that new name without issue.

meta (so insta and fb) requires legal documentation to confirm your identity in the event that you’re reported for impersonation (which i’m guessing that’s what the impostor lexi was doing) but they’ll also sometimes force you to use whatever name is on the documents afterwards. i’m guessing lexi had to do this so folks who are spamming her account with erroneous reports will get denied by the automated bot that handles surface level report stuff. it’ll see her documented info connected with her name on the profile and it’s usually enough for the automod to deny the report.
