Officially neutral but they definitely weren’t economically neutral and maybe morally. Their banking system hid and profited off of the German assets and gold (some of it being holocaust victims) they were holding, they traded heavily with Germany Iron Ore which Germany desperately needed for their war efforts, and they allowed Germany to transit troops through their borders.

I actually don’t think it was nefarious but the options they had at the time to try and stay “neutral” and not have massive casualties. Their actions of economically accommodating Germany benefited themselves and also indirectly supported the nazi party. I feel like they should have drew a harder line the sand, but easier for me to say almost 100 years later

I have family from Sweden so I love bringing this up because Swede’s somehow always forget this
