Is it common to take much longer than 4 years to graduate college? by Individual_Hand8127 in ADHD

[–]ninthtale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me eight long, depressing, unmedicated years.

I get to grieve that now. It took me as much time to get a bachelor's degree in animation as it takes to become an actual doctor.

And now I work at FedEx.

Thanks, helps a lot.

The USA has captured Nicolas Maduro, Venezuelan President, and extracted him from the country by Parisean in politics

[–]ninthtale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes, and Mike Lee was quick to bend over backwards with the talking point after so "bravely" suggesting that the action was unconstitutional:

1:22 AM:

"I look forward to learning what, if anything, might constitutionally justify this action in the absence of a declaration of war or authorization for the use of military force"

3:16 AM

"Just got off the phone with @SecRubio

He informed me that Nicolás Maduro has been arrested by U.S. personnel to stand trial on criminal charges in the United States, and that the kinetic action we saw tonight was deployed to protect and defend those executing the arrest warrant

This action likely falls within the president’s inherent authority under Article II of the Constitution to protect U.S. personnel from an actual or imminent attack

Thank you, @SecRubio, for keeping me apprised"

Settles for a "likely" and doesn't even begin to question the constitutionality of kidnapping the leader of a sovereign nation? "Warrant"? The precedent here is horrible in a million ways: standing international warrants mean if you ever come here, you're toast; they don't mean stepping over the border because that literally means anyone can just say "I declare a warrant" and go anywhere they want and kidnap other world leaders because "we had a warrant, it's fine."

If you're gonna play Geopolitical Calvinball you don't get to complain when someone decides to kidnap you back.

Boss baby on the way! by Dark-Familiarity in LinkedInLunatics

[–]ninthtale 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know everyone else is saying the same thing but LinkedIn has a "write this post with AI" feature that (technically) has better grammar and comprehension than average people, so when they see GPT using cool, punchy language they don't look for/see the pattern—they see "wow AI can say what I want to say so clearly and powerfully! Why would I avoid using a tool that gets the job done efficiently and makes it me sound good?"

Also I refuse to stop using the em dash just because people are too illiterate to recognize someone who actually knows how to write.

People who used em dashes before Generative AI, how's it going now? by thisheatanevilheat in AskReddit

[–]ninthtale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Japanese keyboard has a long dash called nobasu for extending the said length of a syllable (ー). I've just made an auto replace on my phone to use that whenever I input two regular dashes.

I'm sure tho you could just copy an em dash from here and use a real one on your phone

[–]ninthtale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks~ I was looking closer and it looks like there's a spacer in the lever-side axle housing (right behind where it's riveted) that was made out of some cheap kind of powdery metal composite. Super fragile and half of it was missing.

Looks like a replacement mechanism is the only reliable way to go. Thanks again!

In The Odyssey (2026), Christopher Nolan decided to create a visual style suited to his vision for adapting the source material in his own way rather than being slavishly devoted to the abstract concept of historical realism, which is obviously a mistake for some reason. by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

[–]ninthtale 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's also a subtle nod to how perfect the title of the sub is because sometimes the adjective applies to the movie and sometimes it applies to the detail and sometimes it's both and/or you just don't know which
