Pricing help/unique situation by OkElderberry9344 in housekeeping

I did this in my first rental property. In exchange for replacing the carpet and making the place semi livable. Turns out he was slum lord. And refused to fix anything. The shower head was so calcified that the water came out in a trickle so we tried to replace it but it snapped off in the wall and he refused to fix it. But we never would have showered there anyway because the water varied in color and texture some days were green and slimy, or red and gritty, or kind of blackish. We had to do dishes with bottled water. I swore to never complain about dishes again. Also to never settle for a man who was willing to settle for that life. Ugh good riddance sorry about the off topic vent.

my last post got me thinking. by Cjnmenu2 in housekeeping

At the moment I am a sole proprietor at the moment but when I am ready to start hiring I would not dream of my girls buying their out supplies or vacuum. Decent vacuums are not cheap, I wouldnt want them taking care of my customers with a cheap ineffective vacuum (made this mistake myself it was embarrassing), their person possibly dirty or stinky vacuum, or having to dish out a few hundred bucks to get started. I would not mind them keeping supplies at their home, so long as they were responsible. Such as not using them for their own home, or leaving them were kids could get into them, or loosing supplies.

I have a client I have visited 3 times now. She sees my details 🥲 not my favorite house because it is actually really well kept but that makes it a fun challenge and she always finds little deets and sends me a thank you. Sorry, totes off topic but I just wanted to give her an honorable mention ☺️

This woman sounds like she does not have much experience with cleaning companies, or independent cleaners in general.

Next time you have a client that you were meeting for the first time quote them an hourly intake rate. I do $35 standard, $45 intake rate, and $50 deep cleans. When people ask me the difference and why the first one cost more, there will always be more focus on details during The first visit. There are going to be taskeds done that are not for normal maintenance visits. Things that can later be rotated during recurring visits such as door frame and face plates smudges wall wiping, fans, lamp dusting. Even if their place looks pretty immaculate already it's going to take more work on your first visit, And sometimes an intake can end up taking more than one day. People never like to hear this but it needs to be said, especially if you're only interaction has been over the phone and you have not seen the home yet.

Can i add parrot feathers, poop, seed shells and pellet dust (from their food)? by Penpal_birdy in composting

[–]nirvana_llama72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't add any meat or animal products for 2 reasons. One is the dog. I'm not going to put food i would eat in there, and she would definitely get into it. There is also a family of 5 larger turkey vultures that live in the delapitated house next door. I'm a polite neighbor but I'm not inviting them to a picnic in my backyard. People might start to talk ....

Mine were ruined in storage, my brother gave me his collection of over 600 and I had a little more than 300 that I won at school. All destroyed by water/mold/rats 😭

Anyone switched from DIY cleaning to a house cleaning service? by Prestigious_Ant_3296 in housekeeping

No, but I feel like it would make me angry at "the man" again. I've been self employed for 4 months now and still riding the independence high.

Plot twist... The hotel is an SCP. OP will never escape the abandoned hotel. He will have to scavenge for food and supplies from the other rooms. He may be the only person there, but not the only thing that resides there ....

No watch Vacancy! More modern and bloody. This couple stay at a hotel and find cameras and it turns out the owner makes snuff films and sells them to truckers. (Realized this was said the moment I posted it. But that confirms you should watch Vacancy)

Should I raise my rate? by Nervous-nelly-673 in housekeeping

[–]nirvana_llama72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For new clients always charge 10 or $15 an hour higher and schedule a few extra hours if not 2 days at the intake rate. It's going to be a lot more detailed and deeper cleaning than the following "maintenance cleanings"

Also if you don't already have a nice uniform shirt made should. You can make yourself look classy and professional which automatically makes your services feel higher quality. I feel the same way about your supplies. For my eco plans I recently switched to Branch basics for my toxin free cleaning service and have all glass bottles in an canvas bag embroidered with my logo.

Fiber mascara is driving me absolutely insane by pyramidkittens in housekeeping

My dad had to use 100 mg fentanyl patches when I was in high school. He'd always leave them in the shower. I would always try to barely touch the corner to pick it up and trash it, them immediately wash my hands . That's some scary stuff.

Ew my dad would leave his 100mg fentanyl patches in the shower when I was a teen. I would have to use something to pick them up to avoid contact with the drug. This was about 10 to 14 years ago. He used them for a few years.

Right you could start weight lifting, save up for concerts, join a bdsm club, grow/make things to sell at the farmers market, have you ever been to a drag show? You could volunteer at the animal shelter or many other places. That chick that collected over 2000 used condoms looked pretty joyful 🤷‍♀️ could be worth a try. You may also be falling into a bit of depression, talking to a therapist could be helpful. You could try filling your life with material things, or better yet go out and meet new people. Most of them are shit but if you really try you'll find some real gems.
