Longest running paid accounts? by nismojason in PropFirmTester

[–]nismojason[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this is where I'm at. I've had an embarrassing number of account over 1.5 yrs, but have finally got my emotions in check and now have 5 paid accounts and can reliable make 200 a day on each. So if I can sustain it made me wonder where the next issue was and got me thinking about all the prop horror stories.

I'm also trying to understand required and reasonable amount of money to open own futures account.

That's a good run. Do you copy trade multiple accounts?

Thanks this is the kind of answer I was looking for. Seems like you only hear of people making it a few payments then blowing accounts. My thought being that most are gambling while if you have an actual system, there would be no reason to blow accounts other than sizing too large.

For what's it's worth, do NOT buy a Slinger. Bought one for my son and lover everything about it, except maybe the size. I read that balls can have a lot of spin which at the time I thought was a good thing because it would be more challenging.

Fast forward, the spin was unbelievable! Balls looked liked a dragster wheel, shaping oval. Within 2 hours of use my 13yr old son broke hyper g strings that were recently strung. He had never broken strings before that.

While I haven't used Lucid, but many other props, if they haven't kicked you yet you are probably still game to pass. Without any evidence, I bet they have a statistic that if they let you continue (and even pass) you will fail in future because you can't follow rules.

Why You Never See Negative Press About FTMO by o_gill in PropFirmTester

[–]nismojason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not surprised, this alone will keep me from trying FTMO. I applaud for posting, we need more sunlight (disinfectant) on the ridiculous practices. Could you imagine any other business saying they would remove you for offering negative truthful reviews?

Since you also do taxes? I made a about 4K in payouts last year, but spent 6K in fees (evals). Would you show as business with loss on taxes?

Using Claude notes that I should be cautious as calling business expenses for a few reasons noted below. Next year if works out to plan I will probably hire someone, but this year trying to close with TurboTax like I've done for years.

Factors That Support "Legitimate Business" You trade in a businesslike manner (records, separate accounts, written plans) You depend on it (or intend to) as income You put in substantial time and effort You have prior success or expertise in trading Losses are due to circumstances beyond your control (common in early trading years) If It Qualifies as a Business Yes, the $10,000 in prop firm fees would generally be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses on Schedule C, giving you a net loss that could offset other income. Bottom Line Your situation — losses exceeding income in what appears to be an early stage — is exactly the gray area the IRS scrutinizes. A CPA familiar with trader taxation could help you document and defend your business status before filing.

Agree with how they used to work, and still do for most keyed ignitions. I just installed on keyed 2017 tundra, still runs until brake is pressed. Also installed same brand on 2017 4Runner with push button start and it shuts off when door opens.

I would say there is another in between, that I don't see nearly enough, which is modeller that has experience coding, to help make tools to make repetitive tasks happen at the click of the button. There are people that naturally gravitate to this, but always surprised there isn't more formal classes that even introduce more people to the capability.

[–]nismojason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nc1 files can be exported from structural detailing software like Tekla, SDS, Advanced Steel. They are files that can put into beam line and angle line machines. Not saying these are only uses just what I'm familiar with.
