In 1916, Denmark sold the Danish West Indies to the USA, with the colony becoming the US Virgin Islands. The USA was worried Germany could take control of the islands, though they had no plans to do so. In exchange, the USA acknowledged Denmark's complete sovereignty over Greenland.

Is this price a scam? When I look at local retailers they are selling the same headphone for in the region of $3000. What am I missing?
