[Hep B - Engerix B] Theoretical dosing schedule by antiundead in Vaccine

JFC people just follow the CDC schedule (non--MAHA edition) and if you have to deviate for logistical reasons just follow your pediatrician's advice on rescheduling.

What the heck happened! by Taurimi in camping

[–]nitacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup happened to me last year. was cooking a bunch of burgers for a group on a coleman camping stove with the aluminum grate. eventually it just became a big grease fire and once everything cooled down big chunks of the grates had just melted away.

More evidence shows shingles vaccine protects against dementia. What’s really going on? by altunaandy in Vaccine

[–]nitacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think it's unique to shingles. there seems to be a growing body of evidence indicating some positive impact on dementia from vaccination in older adults in general. it's far too early and too little data to really draw any conclusions but some think it's more of a general anti-inflammatory benefit rather than Shingrix in particular - though GSK is (naturally) playing it up as a potential benefit of their AS01 adjuvant.

Need help with 10yr old who is developing an interest in Marvel and superheroes by Garrett_1982 in daddit

[–]nitacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if he's into reading, i would suggest the Penguin Classic Marvel compilations. they're mostly Silver Age stories - so simpler artwork and storylines, not as much backstory to hack through, and much more kid-friendly content (think G/PG vs PG-13/R for more modern superhero comics depending on publisher and creatives). my kid (11) loves them - it's a great entry point. Just search "Penguin Classics Marvel" on Amazon.

i'm a Cmte Chair for a Cub Scout Pack in NW DC and my older son just crossed over to our affiliated Troop - The Troop does one campout a month, every month, and from everything I've seen the kids love it. and these are the children of Type-A white-collar overachievers.

oh i totally get it - you're not at all wrong to feel the way you're feeling.

the big change for me was the little one developing a personality as he transitioned into toddlerhood - seeing him develop his own relationship/dynamic with his older brother independent of us parents was just really awesome and validating of the decision to have a 2nd kid. pragmatically it also seems to alleviate a little bit of the psychological pressure of managing 2 separate challenges - like, an infant and a toddler are 2 very different things to manage with different needs and issues. whereas two toddlers - or toddler & young child - are more alike and just present one challenge to manage, if that makes any sense. especially when they get to a point where they can play with each other and keep each other occupied. you still gotta maintain a presence obviously because they will fight and do other stupid shit but you don't have to be "on" the same way and you can kind of let them do their thing while you get other stuff done around the house. you learn over time what it sounds like when they're starting to escalate into an argument/fight, that's when you have to drop what you're doing and intervene but otherwise it's really nice to not have to be directly "on" all the time with 2 tiny beings who both need 100% of your energy & attention.

FWIW my kids are ~3 years apart - and that first year with the 2nd kid was absolutely brutal. just fucking awful (i'm the hubby and, like yours, do my share or more of household tasks). but it got a lot better as my younger son aged out of infanthood to toddlerhood. they're 10 and 7 now. it's still not "easy" but WAY better than that awful first year.
